Who you got? McDermott?
Your opinion is awful if you think that Dallas might be his best win.
My point being that he has no "best win" not for a guy who was heralded as the second coming of Klitschko.

Well his best win certainly isn't against Dallas.

You just threw him in there to be insulting.

Price's record is weak enough without pretending his best win might have been against Dallas.

Dallas  remember Maloney trying to hype him. Soon as we all saw him win a clear robbery against Page Frank chucked him in with Price to be destroyed. He and Larry O, just terrible.

I like Tom Dallas, why would I wish to insult him?

Will this loss get Pricey into your top 30 lb for lb? It seems to work for Murray and Khan.

Actually was Pricey ever in it?

Well then Horse when you wrote

"Price's record is weak enough without pretending his best win might have been against Dallas"

Shouldn`t you have added "but still strong enough to get him as high as 15th place on my esteemed P4P list"

It shows that you were suckered in by the hype like most others, or that British boxing was in one sorry arsed state at the time.

Good luck to David whatever he does he can hold is head up high and be proud of what he's achieved cos 99% of us starting out in the sport will never achieve what he has :box:

ABA titles, Commonwealth gold, Olympic bronze, and a British title as a pro are nothing to be scoffed at, but his KO streak set very lofty expectations that he fell well short of. He shouldn't feel ashamed, but I think, for the most part, he will be remembered as a major letdown.

It's also not just that he lost, but how he lost. It would be one thing if he were dropping competitive decisions, but the visuals of him being flattened and bent over in exhausted capitulation are memorable and give the image of a guy who was helpless at those levels.

Price got all of his 4 best wins in 2012 and he managed to get a pretty high ranking.

I wasn't sucked in by the hype.

Stop trying to change the subject anyway.

Apologise for suggesting that Dallas might have been Price's best win and be on your way.

I don`t do apologies mate. Looking back now Dallas was not a big win, but at the time when Pricey fought him, he was a prospect himself and unbeaten. In that respect, at the time the fight took place, it was up there with the others and that win in particular actually fuelled the hype (and probably propelled him onto your list)

The subject matter I find more interesting however, is how a guy with a "weak record" makes it onto your esteemed list? By your own admission his record is weak. I am starting to question both the integrity and substance of that list. You sure you aint taking bribes?

It did not propel him onto my list.

It was never up there with the others.

His record is weak compared to the hype he got, just like Joshua's is now.

They both have/had records good enough to enter the British P4P Top 30.

Great achievements but I can understand the feeling of unfulfilled talent with some.

Thing is, it's not that hard to research his amateur days if you didn't manage to catch them at the time. He was never, ever, ever going to be the next Wlad, let alone Lewis. His non-paid days would have confirmed that

I personally think he just gives up in the ring, once he starts taking shots he drops his hands and looks completely hapless, waiting for the ref to step in. There is no way in the world he is gassing so early in sparring unless they arent getting the hard rounds in at the gym.

As regards his career it has been decent and I'm certain not may of us on the forum believed the hype train as we all seemed to know he couldn't hold a shot from his AM days.

Actually think this was a good result for price as I reckon if he fought big John another 9 times the result would have been different, certainly not a 1 round white wash, points or stoppage for John as he has a good engine

Exactly, some rated him in their top 30 British Pound for Pound list based on knocking over Latvian doormen

Price had his skeptics who routinely cited instances of fragility from his amateur career, but there was a sizable group of knowledgeable fans who believed he was the next big thing, or at least had a good chance of becoming it. At one point I think he was very arguably the hottest prospect in the sport, although now it can be easy to forget just how excited the boxing world was about him (even CS poster diddy, typically quite negative about British fighters, was calling Price the best HW prospect he'd ever seen).

With many (including me) thinking he had Fury's number.

Didn't he almost go down in his 1st pro fight when with hayemaker on setanta, taking a shot while not looking.

Dismal career

Starched by Teper. Beaten by old man Thompson. Beaten up and stopped by basic hammer.

Scott Welch and Henry Akinwande will go down as better fighters

This is a great summary. One of the things about Price is that we were led to think we had a genuine world contender, a possible world champion from the outset.

I remember Nigel Benn saying he'd have been happy just to win the southern area title so after that everything was a bonus.

Price was highly touted from the start. Expectations were high but he will best be remembered for his capitulations.
