Eubank jnr prices himself out of the fight because he's a ppv star that needs to be paid.
If the fight ever happens, Degale, convincingly

Re: Eubank Jr wants Degale next.
a month ago i would have thought degale but i think the badou jack trip to the well of guts has made degale look a bit fragile. he will have to work very hard to beat CEJ. Degale will of course start as favourite.

Never happens, just talk and self promotion, if they wouldn't fight GGG for a reported £4m they aren't going to fight Degale for what will be much less. Degale won't be interested in dealing with them anyway.

Re: Eubank Jr wants Degale next.
Stylwise, I go for Eubank here. I think Eubank has shown since the Saunders fight that any question marks that he is not a 12 x 3 minute fighter should be thrown out of the window. I think he outworks DeGale, who is an odd one - he promises so much but hasn't really impressed in his world title reign.
I'm not saying he's gone backwards - but against Bute and Jack especially, I think most were expecting a "coming out" performance where he takes the division by the scruff of the neck and says "I'm THE champion" - he's not done that. He's won / drawn but each time it leaves you with a question mark about his own credentials.
I think Eubank's chin is too good not to suffer any early issues (issues that cost Dirrell and Jack victories) and his stamina means DeGale will work at a pace he is not comfortable with.

If that falls through, he can see if the WBU will allow him to fight for their vacant supermiddleweight title then he can go back to DeGale with even more evidence of why he deserves more moneyclopixolacuphase wrote:Don't forget it's a unification!freddydoesdallas wrote:Eubank jnr prices himself out of the fight because he's a ppv star that needs to be paid

Re: Eubank Jr wants Degale next.
What has Eubank done at middleweight, let alone supermiddleweight that makes you think he could beat a genuine world level supermiddleweight? It's not like he'd cleared up. He's had one test and failed itstujones wrote:Stylwise, I go for Eubank here. Re: Eubank Jr wants Degale next.
Degale is pretty touch and has a dig on him, plus he is naturally bigger.
Eubank's not got enough pop and would be competitive but Degale's movement and raiding in and out would cause trouble for CEJ.

Re: Eubank Jr wants Degale next.
You could have said the exact same thing about DeGale when he fought Dirrell, yet no one dismissed his chances so easily. Its about styles. Personally, had DeGale not got a 10-7 round for Dirrell he wouldn't be world champion. I think Eubank's chin is solid enough and I think he has the work rate to win rounds as Dirrell did in the mid / late rounds of their fight.freddydoesdallas wrote:What has Eubank done at middleweight, let alone supermiddleweight that makes you think he could beat a genuine world level supermiddleweight? Re: Eubank Jr wants Degale next.
DeGale had fought at Supermiddle throughout his career though. Eubank has fought at middleweight against low quality opposition, bar BJS, and now he can add on 8lb and fight one of the best SMW's?stujones wrote:You could have said the exact same thing about DeGale when he fought Dirrell, yet no one dismissed his chances so easily. Re: Eubank Jr wants Degale next.
Also, DeGale Sky Sports fighter/Hearn, Saunders is with Warren/BN so these fights will never happen unless the aforementioned become free agents. GGG is fighting Jacobs next so there is not a lot a lot left for Eubank Jr to cash in on.Nightmare Roy wrote:Never happens, just talk and self promotion, if they wouldn't fight GGG for a reported £4m they aren't going to fight Degale for what will be much less. Re: Eubank Jr wants Degale next.
Degale beats him over the distance handily , every time iv'e seen junior he looks wild . Obviously great chin and stamina himself but that ain't going to be enough .
I think somebody like Buglioni if he could drop down to smw or Andy Lee at MW would be more like it for him .

Re: Eubank Jr wants Degale next.
I take it Degale would have to drop his IBF title if he took this fight next? He's due a mando - and I don't think this would class as a "unification" fight.
Re: Eubank Jr wants Degale next.
What has jr shown that would put him in the same league as Degale at SMW? Don't get me wrong I'm a bit of a fan boy but degale is several leagues above him at the moment.
Re: Eubank Jr wants Degale next.
To be fair Freddy, he did win 4 or 5 rounds out of the last six in that bout. His previous best opponent had been Bradley Pryce. I think he learnt more against BJS than he had in every other moment of his boxing life, before or since. He may not have won but he showed he had 'something'.freddydoesdallas wrote:What has Eubank done at middleweight, let alone supermiddleweight that makes you think he could beat a genuine world level supermiddleweight? Not saying he beats Degale. I have no idea how good James is. Such a fcking enigma. As is Eubank.

Re: Eubank Jr wants Degale next.
I get that he showed a bit of something in the BJS fight but we also know that BJS isn't the fittest or most dedicated guy and he still won. The first 6 rounds showed just how wild Eubank can be made to look by a good fighter.Taansend wrote:To be fair Freddy, he did win 4 or 5 rounds out of the last six in that bout. I can understand how people can have a bit of hope for Eubank but to be so confident about stepping up in weight and beating a bigger, more proven champion, I just find a bit baffling!

Re: Eubank Jr wants Degale next.
Eubank wants him now because jack just dragged him through the trenches. Degale won't be taking this fight yet, when he does I think degale wins on points.
Re: Eubank Jr wants Degale next.
Unfortunately Eubank jr is all talk - certainly that what his track record shows. Im surprised anyone takes him or his father seriously when they call out the relatively big names.
He stepped up once and lost and then withdrew to domestic level whereupon he hasnt even dared go near fringe world level.
All a bit boring really. If he can make middleweight and isnt a powerful puncher then i dont see the benefit of him stepping up to super-middleweight. Unless he is trying to earn a big payday against someone like Degale, expecting to lose and then peddle out the excuse that he was at a disadvantage as he is the smaller man and really a middleweight... Who knows.

Re: Eubank Jr wants Degale next.
If Eubank intends to stay at super mid he should fight someone at or about his own level ie domestic. Just had a look at the UK rankings - De Gale ranked no4, wtf !! - and there are some fascinating fights to be made. Fielding, Cox, Paul Smith, Murray would all be credible opponents, maybe not Smith, i don't know. The Eubanks should look to make a fight with one of these before calling out bona fide world champions like DeGale.
Even if DeGale or Jack or Ramirez were interested in a fight with him, Jr's sour social media personality and his insane father's delusional negotiating tactics will scupper any chance of a deal being reached and all we'll get is the usual social media shitefest and then a fight with an unknown fighter with a padded record will be announced and the circus will continue. Meanwhile the months and years pass by and by the time he fights again it'll be 2 and a half years since he last had a serious test in the ring. If I had a talent for something like he has I'd consider myself a proper tw4t for not pushing myself to see how far I could go during my prime years.

Re: Eubank Jr wants Degale next.
This would make for a fun fight. Hard to say who I'd favor.
Re: Eubank Jr wants Degale next.
The only chance Eubank would have is when Degale takes time off, but I don't think he's good enough to make it matter, Degale has been in there with some decent punchers, and I don't think Eubank punches hard enough to make Degale worry.G0mez wrote:Degale is pretty touch and has a dig on him, plus he is naturally bigger.

Re: Eubank Jr wants Degale next.
degale wins easily. does a calzaghe-lacy type job on him. very much doubt that this fight happens, or that eubank jr fights any decent world level opponent in the foreseeable. As there is an abundance of mugs out there willing to pay money to see eubank beat up domestic level fighters, expect the eubanks to milk them for all theyre worth.
