Oleksandr Usyk - The Cruisers

Post by TheGingerBomber »

A topic matter close to my heart

I don't know about the board generally, but I see Usyk as top dollar. He can become repetitive in fights when he's figured out his opponent and lays the smacketh down without having the power to finish, but I find him extraordinary!

Would like to know how others view him and that division as a whole.
I see potentially great fights and a lot of competitive ones, but I honestly don't see any match for Usyk bar maybe Breidis, who, if he waltzes past Huck, I will see as the definite no.2.

However there's Lebedev, Gassiev and Bellew with titles too, and any mixture of those guys combined with fighters like Dorticos, Glowacki, Tabiti and even Drozd, could for some exciting fights.

There's probably more lads I've forgot to mention!

Cruiser is my current favorite division, and I agree with your synopsis. Breidis is the only guy I see troubling Usyk. I envision both of them making waves at Heavy in a few more years.

It's wide open now since the clear number one Boomer has stepped up.

Can anyone drag him into a fight?

Gassiev looks the biggest threat. Can see both outgrowing cruiserweight at some and having a chance at heavyweight against the right opponent, when their work is done and they're ready to chance it.

Excellent division and a lot of tough tough competitors. Usyk is the stand out but there's a few potential banana skins there. Lots of entertaining fights to be made. Hopefully see a few of them this year.

No backlash? Surprised.

I don't see Gassiev exploiting anyone, from what I've seen he's clearly very powerful but that's it! If he could jab I'd think different.
