Betting thread
Re: Betting thread
I wasn't sure who was going to win. Thought price had 3 rounds to win or he'll get stopped. I did under 4.5 for either fighter. Should have edged it with a hammer KO and took a small profit. You live and learn.

Re: Betting thread
The value days for Price are over now. I made some good money on the second Thompson fight, I think Tony was 5/1 by stoppage?? Totally missed out on the teper fight for some reason.jameswilson wrote:I lumped on Teper to beat Price at the time too. I expect Price will be one of those fighters who makes me money for as long as he boxes. I said the same about Adam Etches in one of his recent fights against a journeyman and now both have combined for me in one night.
Re: Betting thread
I won money on Shafikov over Herring in the latter's most recent fight. And with his style I believe that Art could give Herring problems in this bout tonight. They're both coming off losses, but Herring got stopped last time out. I'm on the Armenian for a small bet at this price.
Art Hovhannisyan (+450) vs Jamel Herring $25.00 for $112.50

Throwing a few bucks on the underdog in the Bounce TV bantamweight co-main event tonight as well. The main event, Easter Jr. vs Cruz, should be a blowout, but the Easter by KO & under 8½ props are so juiced and the round group props are chintzy too.
Zhanat Zhakiyanov (+333) vs Rau'shee Warren $35.00 for $116.55

Your on a crazy roll atm though Jim. Btw anyone on this Holly Holm fight I'm thinking of putting money on her opponent at 4/5, De Randamie is looking good for this fight and Holm's recent form has been shaky.
Re: Betting thread
I'm a big UFC bettor, much more than boxing actually, despite the fact that I'm on a huge boxing roll and up thousands of dollars on boxing alone already this year. My stakes on a typical UFC card are bigger by a factor of ten or twenty than any boxing card by comparison with literally dozens of ML, over/under and prop wagers on every one of a dozen or so bouts.
I'm really torn on Holm vs De Randamie to be honest. Holly has fought much better competition in MMA and gone five five-minute rounds multiple times while De Randamie looks like such a powerful striker, yet has beaten only lower ranked opposition who are no longer even on the UFC roster. She has also taken a lot of time off and only trains and fights part time in between her career as a police officer in The Netherlands. In contrast you have full time fighter Holly who has trained since she was 16 years old with some of the best coaches in MMA coming into this fight off two losses. I wouldn't be surprised if Holly's coach Greg Jackson came up with something like a wrestling heavy gameplan to take De Randamie out of her element instead of making it strictly a kickboxing affair. That's just speculation though, but I believe that could be a smart strategy. It's a great female fight, although it really should have just been at 135 pounds instead of starting this 145 pound weight class without Cris Cyborg, which adds yet another wrinkle to the contest. I have a smallish bet on Holm by decisions at +250 so far, I think I may just live bet the fight beyond that.

Definitely a good bet if not then Russell 7-12. Escadon is rubbish but Russell is not a big puncher although he has not knocked his recent less than stellar opponents. Only problem Ian escadon is an inside fighter and Russell's hand speed is no joke.Londonirish wrote:Gary Russel Jr to beat Oscar Escandon points 3/1

Hi all,
I'm pondering a treble for the Sky Bellew v Haye PPV show...
Davies to beat Matthews, Malignaggi to beat Eggington and Haye to knock out Bellew is paying almost 7/2...
The same bet with Haye to win inside 6 rounds is 4/1.
What do people reckon? Seems good value to me?
Cheers!

4/1 is tasty like, very possible! Expect you may get knocked about by a dreadful decision against MalignaggiScoops wrote:Hi all,

Re: Betting thread
Thanks - I did wonder if there would be some home cooking as Malignaggi isn't going to KO him so I'm relying on the cards. I wonder if I should a little insurance bet on Eggington on points to cover the stake. I'd like to win enough to pay for the show, a few beers and takeaway!TheGingerBomber wrote:4/1 is tasty like, very possible! Is Haye inside the 6 worth the half a point? I'm on Haye inside 3 and inside 6 but it depends what you are going to stake. A £10 stake means only £5 extra but for 6 rounds lessScoops wrote:Hi all,

Re: Betting thread
I couldn't resist betting against 48 year old Roy Jones Jr. for a small play at this price even though he outclasses his opponent by a mile skillwise in this cruiserweight bout Friday evening. Bare knuckle champion Bobby Gunn is no spring chicken himself at 43 years of age, but has traditional boxing experience against decent competition and hits hard even in a regular boxing glove bout such as this.
Bobby Gunn (+1050) vs Roy Jones Jr. ~$27.38 for ~$287.47
I love Adrian Granados, but I hate his price in this fight. Granados won me money against Amir Imam in his last bettable fight as a +900 underdog in 2015, and I was hoping that he'd be a bigger dog against Adrien Broner than the +250 or +260 where it's at now. I think it's significant that Broner changed the weight of this contest from a catchweight of 142 pounds to 147 pounds the other day which Granados had to agree to as the b-side fighter. I think that's in Broner's favor as he is the one that asked for it and he's naturally the more heavily muscled man, especially in the torso and arms. Based on the press conferences, Broner has also been sounding like he's taken his training camp seriously and not caught up in personal drama this time around, also something that Granados might have taken advantage of. I'm sure that Granados is going to be very game however, and I feel compelled to put a bet on him as one of my favorite boxers and also due to his high pressure swarmer style which may tend to stifle Broner's output at points. These guys know each other as Granados trained with Broner as his sparring partner before the latter's Maidana fight so I expect this to go to a decision or a late stoppage. I'm definitely going to hedge with Broner late stoppage and also by split and majority decision if those props become available, as Granados tends to get at least one judge on his side in all of his four losses.
Adrian Granados (+260) vs Adrien Broner $40.00 for $104.00
Adrian Granados wins in round 10-12 (+2200) ~$10.14 for ~$223.08
Adrien Broner wins in round 10-12 (+650) ~$15.21 for ~$98.87
Not Adrien Broner Inside Distance (-155) $62.00 for $40.00
Adrian Granados/Adrien Broner starts round 10 (-147) ~$75.04 for ~$51.04
Bobby Gunn (+1050) vs Roy Jones Jr. ~$27.38 for ~$287.47

Bets for Upcoming Fights
I'm lining up some bets for upcoming domestic fights, trying to figure out ways of buying some easy money:
Haye vs Bellew
Most people seem to be concluding that this is a three, possibly six round fight where Haye will take him out early.
I've had a look at round betting on Will Hills site and I think there is value to be had betting large on rounds three and four, also betting medium on rounds one, two, five and six.
Odds are as follows:
Rd 1 - 10/1
Rd 2 - 9/1
Rd 3 - 7/1
Rd 4 - 7/1
Rd 5 - 8/1
Rd 6 - 10/1
http://sports.williamhill.com/bet/en-gb ... +Haye.html
I covered the same type of multi-bet up to round six on the Price Hammer fight but unfortunately for me Hammer won in the 7th round. I think this time it looks to be a much better money lock.
Brook vs Spence
If this fight does go ahead then there could be a good opportunity for arbitrage betting.
Right now the UK bookies have Brook as a slight favourite, whereas other companies marginally favour Spence.
As the fight draws closer expect the UK firms to shorten Brook's odds, conversely lengthening Spence's odds, as the money piles in from the UK fans for Brook.
You can get odds against for Brook at MarathonBet, and come fight night it will be worth betting on Spence as his odds will be greater than the 11/10 currently on offer from the UK big four. This should allow a small wager on a draw while still shaving a profit.

Please post any thoughts for other fights along with the two mentioned here itt.
