Will winner of masoe - Sturm be the normal WBA Champ

Is the winner of tonights fight the only WBA champ, is Taylor the super champ ??? Do we have any Interim champs ??? WOW these boxing rules suck dick

As of December/Jan, Taylor was undisputed champion in the eyes of the WBA (this apparently so even though the IBF didn't sanction the second Hopkins fight, but the WBC, A & O were fought for)

This paved the way for a regular WBA champ a la Masoe.

But if, as boxrec is showing, Taylor-Winky is going to be for just the WBC and WBO titles, then that may make him just a unified champion - and if he's dropped the WBA title, then that surely leaves no grounds for having 2 titles. In this case, whether Sturm-Masoe tonight will therefore be for the 'proper' WBA title with full regalia reinstated.

On the other hand, despite Taylor-Wright being for only two titles, Taylor could still be WBA champ given times for mandatories. However, given it will be June before the fight with Wright I doubt he could still claim it. Plus Wright is WBA#1 so presumably mandatory anyway.

You mean in cases where there is a super-champ.

Most super-champs became super-champs by unifying while being a regular champ.

Yes, but only because there wan't a super/unified champ in the first place. For example, Bell unifies the cruiser titles so becomes a super champ, thus freeing up a 'regular' belt for Virgil Hill.

It could be wrong. WBA still lists Taylor as champion.
