The Gorman fight would be a bit risky for both sides, but a title might be enough incentive, I hope it happens.

We won't be looking to rush things with Josh Sandland. He's very deceptive.we are quite happy for people to make assumptions regarding his physique. He has not ever lifted weights, To date.And ex rugby player. With only a dozen amateur fights.
So we will bring his bmi around steadily. His application of his skills is more important than looking defined. We saw that Dominic Akinlade was more focused on the Gorman fight than last night's. This, as well as his style being too open and not the best of stamina, we knew it was within Josh to beat him. ONLY IF he fought his fight. To apply this on Dominic Akinlade's home show. Shows us he can apply what we do in the gym.

We will be working on his bmi, but it's not a priority for us. His determination and focus however are.he has a good engine and is a deceptively good athlete . Ex rugby player and only boxed for five years including amateur fights. So we aren't in a rush to chase titles. Quality, progressive fights are more our focus.

Counter productive.....we have time, it's only his second fight.but it is already going to be hard to get him matched.
So in answer to "getting into decent shape to give it a serious go ". He already is...!!! .he beat a English title contender on his home show unanimously....after one previous fight. In summery, how he looks is secondary to how he performs. And so far we are happy with his progress.

Well he just beat the Southern Area champion so maybe the titles will come quickly even if you don't plan it that way.

Im not sure why anyone would be prepared to fight Akinlade in their second pro fight and expect to walk away with a victory fighting away from home was a great idea, in terms of thinking that it was a sure win. The reason I wrote about his weight was not being negative but im sure other people would have thought the same as myself that matching a kid only 1 fight against a up and coming pro such as Akinlade was a risk.

It would have appeared to me and im sure other people that this fight was not a serious vision on how to progress a new comer taking on a decent prospect so early on. Yes Josh won and thats a decent win for the kid.

Again what I said about his weight was not being negative, but im sure you will agree if josh can get a decent win record together condition will always come into play later on in his career. Putting on extra beef did not help David Price in his last fight (im not saying Josh is like Price)

The last thing I would write is anything negative about a young boxer who is 2-0. Im quite excited that there is a possible new kid on the block in British boxing who has beaten a decent prospect in his second outing. So what im saying is just an observation, im sure you fellas know what you are doing with him but you could have a 'golden goose' here that needs some special attention.

Thank you for all your replies all were greatly appreciated. In typical style we gave Josh a few days off to rest and repair. However he's on an obvious high and was back in the gym (his first weights session!) It was rather amusing to be honest.
We have a plan for Josh'Sandlands progress. It won't be glacial or over protected like many heavyweights are. We will be looking for some fights where he can box more and apply and broaden his ring craft.

Just to keep you guys in the loop.
Josh Sandland will be fighting again on April the 14th in Manchester. Bowlers Exhibition centre .....we haven't a confirmed opponent yet.
