The best thing for the great Manny Pacquiao to do with the Explosive Thin Man is to outbox him and give him angles by using his superior speed. But, one shot by Arguello and Manny is gone! Arguello at his very by knockout. I could see it like when he fought Alfredo Escalera the second time around.

I'd pick Manny here. Arguello was an explosive counter puncher and I could definitely see him sparking Manny with a big right hand, but Arguello was always troubled by guys with quick feet and Manny is as fast as anybody he ever fought and just as skilled. Manny would be too quick for him to land cleanly on a great deal of the time I think, and I figure Manny would either stop him late or take a UD.

I think Manny would win a split dec his hand/foot speed the difference in a classic.

It's a fight that could go either way but I don't see Arguello catching a fast prime Manny with too many telling shots.
Re: ARGUELLO v PACQUIAO @ 130lbs
At this weight Manny was almost one handed and I don't see him surviving the whole fight with the explosive thin man. Certainly not 15 rounds. It would be a great fight with both men rocked but I just think Arguello would set too many traps and a careless Manny would come a cropper to the big right hand.

i agree rounds 13-15 would be very difficult for Manny if he got that far. i do think however his movement, Arguello's kryptonite, would make it difficult for Alexis over 12. also think the southpaw stance would set Arguello's jab-first attack back a little bit.

Would have been interesting. Have to go with Arguello. I think a lot of people don't realize how good he was. Great boxing skills, hard puncher, and a lot of heart. He destroyed a lot of really good fighters pretty easily.

The Arguello that fought the great Aaron Pryor was past his very best. He was ready to be taken. Guys like Jose Luis Ramirez and Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini gave him tough fights. His speed was declining. He had trouble with movers. But with guys that came straight up to him, he dismantled them with a vicious and sneaky left hook out of nowhere. Arguello was an extraordinary and extremely talented fighter.
Re: ARGUELLO v PACQUIAO @ 130lbs
Pacquiao would destroy Arguello... When they asked Arguello if he would fight Duran he said, "Are you trying to get me killed?"
Arguello was a great fighter, but he wasn't fast or super skillful.. Pacquiao would beat AA to the punch all night and take an easy decision.. The Pacquiao of the Mayweather fight would lose of course.. That was not a fair representation of Pacquiao's fighting ability.. However if Pacquiao fought Spence, Thurman, Brook, Crawford, or Porter I believe he'd get knocked out -- he would never fight them and fought guys like light hitters like Algieri and Bradley instead.
