I'm from New Zealand, a huge boxing fan, and I haven't ever watched JP fight.
Why?
Because here, every fight he has had is PPV!
And I don't think any of his opponents have been worth paying to view. I was close to coughing up the dough for the Carlos Fight being his first match up inside the top 20. Ruiz was a joke to be fair.
How JP ever made it up the rankings by fighting guys outside the top 50 is beyond comprehension. But that's boxing for you.
I think Fury could beat JP if only he had another one or two fights before hand.
But JP's promoter will make him keep the belt he was gifted at all costs, a lot like the other plastic champion Wilder.
So I have to back Parker to win.
Will I pay to see it?
No chance. Not worth it.

What's it like getting into New Zealand with criminal records ? Is it really strict ?

Reason I'm asking is because Hughies dad and trainer has two prison terms one for drug related and money laundering. This stopped him getting into America a few years ago to train Tyson for his fight with Steve Cunningham.

I looked at the poll results and feel like I've slipped into some strange parallel universe. On what basis is anyone tipping Fury, who hasn't got a single win of note and who hasn't fought in nearly a year? Parker isn't in AJ or Wilder's league, but it's still a massive leap up for Hughie and I just can't make a case for him at all.

I'm totally in agreement with you, Hughie's never done anything to suggest he's even remotely world level.

I think it must be down to Hughie's family situation, he's a boxer who's the cousin of the de facto world heavyweight champ who he regularly trains with so therefore he must be pretty good also seems to be the reasoning.

However, there's £2837 available at odds of 1.55 on Betfair to back Parker to win which seems amazingly good value.

Peter never. He got it for conspiracy to supply drugs. He got a 12 months for breaking financial orders and has since paid back a million pounds back to the POCA.

Maybe so, but he's not your average 22 year old kid. He's been in deep from a very young age.

Who else does he have a realistic chance of fighting for $1.2m? Parker is the weakest champ too, so this really seems like an excellent opportunity.

Nevertheless I don't think Fury will ever get a better chance to win a world title.
Lack of knockout power and the judging in New Zealand will be his biggest problem

Yeah I'd say we have a fairly good idea where his level is right now. But he's young enough to improve.
