What happened with the UKAD hearing?

The mirror who broke the nandrolone story said it was Monday and went on for three days.
Re: Hughie Fury vs Joe Parker
I see Hughie hasnt fought since last April. I wouldnt be surprised if an announcement is made giving Hughie a ban, which is backdated and therefore deemed served allowing him to continue to fight.Naandrew wrote:ginty wrote:I didn't know ...But allegedly is saying the fight is happeningBoxerbeetle wrote:What happened with the UKAD hearing?

I should have mentioned that the mirror article only said Tyson was having a hearing.liamlion wrote:I see Hughie hasnt fought since last April. However both Tyson and Hughie were charged by UKAD at the same time, for the same substance, tested in the same period (Feb 2015) . So it is reasonable to assume that the hearing was for both Hughie and Tyson.
I mentioned your point regarding the ban a bit ago. A ban is from the date of the failed test which in this case is approaching two years. Maybe it could be served by the time the facts come out or because Hughie and Tyson have fought since it could be different.
Who knows ?? Not to mention Tyson testing positive to cocaine an reports he also refused a drug test.
The situation is a huge mess and should be headline news but most all of the press (except the mirror) have just swept it under the rug..
Regardless of how this ends it shows UKAD are an absolute joke and disgrace of an organisation.

Well they swept Tyson's incredible win under the rug so why be surprised? Convicted drug dealer AJ got national acclaim for beating Charles Martin...

Re: Hughie Fury vs Joe Parker
I am very surprised because if the media really disliked the Furys which is what it seemed to be after he beat Wlad. ( IE digging the reports of his comments about women from months prior etc etc ) then they would go on about this UKAD sitatuion. Especially with doping getting coverage now such as the bloke from Team Sky having a public hearing regarding cycling and the packages Wiggins got.mickey1975 wrote:

Not disputing your other comment I agree
The win over Wlad was the best win by a British boxer for 30 years and at the time he should have got a LOT more respect from the press. Sky will pretend this never happened when AJ fights Wlad.
However if he tested positive for a banned substance a few months prior then he should have been banned and the Wlad fight should not have happened.
The million dollar question is why did an apparent failed drug test in Feb 2015 not get charged or made public until June 2016. 8 months on from that and silence from everyone involved and neither fighter involved has fought since. Only thing is the mirror saying the hearing finally happened this week. When it was first reported it was to be in November last year.
There are loads of questions that need to be answered.
Re: Hughie Fury vs Joe Parker
I think it's because no one can really believe Fury is on PEDs. Cocaine? Yes. Beer? Yes. Pies? Yes. Steroids? No.Naandrew wrote:I am very surprised because if the media really disliked the Furys which is what it seemed to be after he beat Wlad. Yeah, I think UKAD should be getting aksed a lot of questions over this. Either Fury is innocent and they've been fornicating him around, or he's guilty and they've either ignored it or been utterly inept. The million dollar question is why did an apparent failed drug test in Feb 2015 not get charged or made public until June 2016. 8 months on from that and silence from everyone involved and neither fighter involved has fought since. The media didn't 'dislike' Fury anymore than it dislikes any other celebrity. But as soon as someone properly hits the limelight, the media immediately go rooting through the person's past for some gossip or controversy. Unfortunately for Fury, they didn't have to look very far, and his strange interviews after winning the title made him an easy (and legitimate) target.BitPlayer wrote:I think it's because no one can really believe Fury is on PEDs. Re: Hughie Fury vs Joe Parker
I'd agree with that, apart from the fact I think he got exceptionally little credit for beating Wlad.Boxerbeetle wrote:The media didn't 'dislike' Fury anymore than it dislikes any other celebrity. That's being a bit petty. Plenty of kids from the hood do silly things when they're young - AJ's turned his life around through sheer hard work.mickey1975 wrote:Why be surprised? NB Adam Smith and co spunking their pants in a studio doesn't amount to national acclaim.

No one would think Erkan Teper was juicing and he was. There is a certain heavyweight everyone is suspect of yet he has not failed a drugs test.BitPlayer wrote:I think it's because no one can really believe Fury is on PEDs. Cocaine? Yes. Beer? Yes. Pies? At the time this all come out I thought it was probably BS but the length of time since and the silence from everyone is making me think otherwise.
Still the answers need to come out. Either the Furys are drug cheats or not. Until that case file is uploaded on their site no one can say for sure.
One thing I can say for sure is UKAD are an absolute disgrace and can not be trusted.
Re: Hughie Fury vs Joe Parker
I'm not saying that means he's innocent, just that the public at large would be a little hard to convince.Naandrew wrote:No one would think Erkan Teper was juicing and he was. There is a certain heavyweight everyone is suspect of yet he has not failed a drugs test.

Re: Hughie Fury vs Joe Parker
UKAD are a farce but the notion of Fury not being on PED's largely seems based on the (completely farcical) stance that looking ripped = you're cheating whilst looking normal = you're obviously fine. If you don't drink, have a professional dietician monitoring everything you eat and spend ages working in an environment designed to improve things like strength you are probably going to get yourself into very good physical shape.
Personally I think there is more suspicion to be raised about a guy who's clearly overweight doing twelve rounds seemingly without any issue than there is about a professional boxer simply looking like Anthony Joshua.

Re: Hughie Fury vs Joe Parker
You've tried this line a few times and nobody really seems to think it works. Nobody is saying Joshua was an angel but trying to compare what he did with that of the Fury's just isn't going to stack up. Joshua was done for possession of cannabis with intent to supply. (Personally I'd legalise cannabis but another story.) He got a community order. Peter Fury got a combined twelve years for money laundering, trafficking and running a massive amphetamine network and John Fury got eleven years for gouging a bloke's eyes out.mickey1975 wrote:Why be surprised? Your argument is similar to saying someone who was disliked by the public, in part, due to repeated drink-driving offences should be held in the same contempt as someone who was stopped for forgetting to have got an MOT in time.

To add, 'they swept his incredible win under the carpet' can also be translated as 'his win was seen as catastrophically boring by the majority of observers and reported as such.'
The impression I got of the reporting was along the lines of 'upset victory - what a bad fight - does anyone remember the days of Lewis, Tyson and Holyfield - Christ if this is heavyweight boxing for the modern age no wonder the sport is a joke.'

Watford? Tyson comes from one of the most notorious families out there and spent his entire childhood visiting maximum security prisons. If anyone was going to be a wrong un, it was him. AJ does get a lot more respect than he deserves for having a belt bought for him.CaptainSpacerod wrote:That's being a bit petty. Yep it really was a dire fight. I was surprised by how many people enjoyed it! Too big guys with long leavers incapable of throwing a decent jab for 12 rounds.dirk2686 wrote:To add, 'they swept his incredible win under the carpet' can also be translated as 'his win was seen as catastrophically boring by the majority of observers and reported as such.'

Re: Hughie Fury vs Joe Parker
It's another boxing 'purist v casual' argument. 99% of the reporting in the mainstream media acknowledged Fury's upset win but were also happy to say the fight was a dud with very little action. Naturally some sought to suggest casual fans had missed an amazing performance by Fury who somehow bamboozled Wlad into not throwing a shot.Dixonian wrote:Yep it really was a dire fight. Re: Hughie Fury vs Joe Parker
An unorthodox freakishly large fighter managed to use feints, and exceptional movement, to stop a smaller fighter, used to having a size advantage, with a safety first approach from throwing punches? Impossible, he must have just used magic to stop Wlad throwing! He cheated with his magic!dirk2686 wrote:It's another boxing 'purist v casual' argument. 99% of the reporting in the mainstream media acknowledged Fury's upset win but were also happy to say the fight was a dud with very little action. I'm not a big AJ fan particularly but in his defence he can't help it if the media feed the casuals enough hype to convince them that he's the number one heavyweight out there. He certainly deserves respect for winning an Olympic gold and for doing everything asked of him so far in the pro game.
And to strip it down to its bare bones a convicted drug dealer who's eschewed a life of crime and become a success in a sport that needs a massive level of commitment and determination has to be respected as a man doesn't he ?
