Acelino Freitas won the first 7 rounds against Corrales prior to being knocked down in the 8th, 9th and 10th rounds. I wouldn't consider that easily knocking him out. He was behind on the cards even after scoring the 3rd knockdown, Freitas just knew he was finished.Kalan wrote:You've got to be kidding me with these fuchsbnovelist wrote:Where do I start? Casamayor... Couldn't box.. Even beaten by 3rd rate Acelino Frietas, who was easily knocked out by Diego Corrales
Kostya Tszyu.. Knocked out by 2nd raters Vince Philips and Ricky Fatton
Paul Williams.. No jab... Trounced by Martinez and Lara
Miguel Cotto.. He was a good fighter.. He jabbed Floyd in the snoot pretty good for half the night, but was still beaten by a clear margin
Manny Pacquiao.. He hid a torn rotator cuff from the media, fans, and boxing authorities -- but made it his excuse after his piss-assed "fight"
I'd add to that, that there are legitimite criticisms of his record, some of them mentioned here already, but they are still not enough to take away from his ATG status.gilgamesh wrote:Mayweather is an all time great. You don't have to like that fact, but it's a fact nonetheless.
I was never a big fan of the guy, but his accomplishments can't be overlooked.
Gomez, Mora and Micky Ward wish they were on Hatton's level. Gomez and Ward were never World Champions anywhere. Hatton is a 2 weight World Champion. Don't be ridiculous.bnovelist wrote:Chico Corrales was Floyd's sparring partner and I heard it was easy work. He already knew Corrales flaws and weaknesses please don't count that
fight lol. Hatton was a sloppy and wreckless slugger with a glass chin. Gatti was considered a GREAT B level fighter don't even start that! He's in
the same league as a Mickey Ward, Sergia Mora, Alphonso Gomez, this class of fighter and Floyd recognized that.
Judah was already deteriorating coming off a loss.

Freitas had a 100% KO rate right up until the moment he started fighting good fighters. Then he won 3 decisions in a row.Jip wrote:6.) Antonio Margarito (bnovelist wrote:Where do I start? Ok lets see he ducked

7.) Acelino Freitas (prime freitas had like a 100 % ko ratio when he was in the same division as floyd and joel back in the old days

The Joshua one is sarcastic. This one was created by a troll. Don't take this sh*t too seriously.Enlightened-One wrote:This forum has become a farce!![]()
One thread attempts to undermine the legacy of an all time great, in the form of Floyd Mayweather Jr, whilst another thread promotes the idea that Anthony Joshua has already become an all time great.
What an absolute fûckîng disgrace!
I don't give Freitas any credit for the Corrales fight. He was too easy to hit and quit like a dog. He'll be remembered for quitting more than anything in his career. Corrales was so hittable that any half decent fighter should have outboxed him and stopped him. He was a flaccid flower stem versus Floyd.gilgamesh wrote:Acelino Freitas won the first 7 rounds against Corrales prior to being knocked down in the 8th, 9th and 10th rounds. Casamayor beat Corrales twice...3 times in my opinion, but twice officially.

I didn't see it that way. I thought Frietas was tossing fluff, even though his KO record is impressive.. I don't want to knock him too much because he was a champ, but I was never impressed with Frietas. I didn't think he beat Casamayor. I felt he'd get run over by pressure fighters.. I thought Corrales was going to keep pressuring him and he'd fold in the middle rounds because his poor stance and defense couldn't handle an attacker. I didn't expect him to quit like a dog. Baby Bull did the same thing to him. He wasn't a complete fighter, couldn't get away from hard driven shots, and got run over.. Although his record looks gaudy he was looking for the exit when he started getting tagged.gilgamesh wrote:You don't have to give him credit, but you were wrong in saying Corrales beat him easy. Losing 7 consecutive rounds means you didn't have an easy night.
