Acelino Freitas won the first 7 rounds against Corrales prior to being knocked down in the 8th, 9th and 10th rounds. I wouldn't consider that easily knocking him out. He was behind on the cards even after scoring the 3rd knockdown, Freitas just knew he was finished.

Casamayor beat Corrales twice...3 times in my opinion, but twice officially.

fight lol. Hatton was a sloppy and wreckless slugger with a glass chin. Gatti was considered a GREAT B level fighter don't even start that! He's in

the same league as a Mickey Ward, Sergia Mora, Alphonso Gomez, this class of fighter and Floyd recognized that.

I was never a big fan of the guy, but his accomplishments can't be overlooked.

I'd add to that, that there are legitimite criticisms of his record, some of them mentioned here already, but they are still not enough to take away from his ATG status.

There are pretty much no records in the history of the sport that are immue to some criticism, whether it some opponent avoided/past prime/from the weight class below.

Bottom line is, Mayweather won titles at several weight classes, beat several top fighters, beat some world class opponents by wide wide margins and went his entire career undefeated, at times barely losing a round, consistently fighting at world class*

But for me, the defining factor is that he was basically p4p no1 from the end of Roy Jones Jr reign until he retired. The only exception being his brief 'retirements' and a couple years where it is debatable that Manny might have overtaken him.
Consistency, longevity, dominance, record breaking gates and ppv figures the evidence is overwhelming, the guy will go down as a great and stoll into the HOF without a legitimite reasonable complaint

I've got him outside my top ten. But the modern day fighter never goes in high, I think he'll climb most lists as nostalgia works it's wonders.

I don't give Freitas any credit for the Corrales fight. He was too easy to hit and quit like a dog. He'll be remembered for quitting more than anything in his career. Corrales was so hittable that any half decent fighter should have outboxed him and stopped him. He was a flaccid flower stem versus Floyd.

MAYWEATHER AVOIDED THE UNDEFEATED FIGHTERS LIKE PRIME COTTO, PAUL WILLIAMS, PRIME MANNY, ETC.... Mike Tyson was a megastar in his

prime just being Mike Tyson (sounds like a hit reality show there lol) Floyd had to PROMOTE PROMOTE PROMOTE HIMSELF so how can he be in the

I didn't see it that way. I thought Frietas was tossing fluff, even though his KO record is impressive.. I don't want to knock him too much because he was a champ, but I was never impressed with Frietas. I didn't think he beat Casamayor. I felt he'd get run over by pressure fighters.. I thought Corrales was going to keep pressuring him and he'd fold in the middle rounds because his poor stance and defense couldn't handle an attacker. I didn't expect him to quit like a dog. Baby Bull did the same thing to him. He wasn't a complete fighter, couldn't get away from hard driven shots, and got run over.. Although his record looks gaudy he was looking for the exit when he started getting tagged.
