Fred Brophy Boxing Tent

Post by fox »

Fred is out at Clifton tonight and tomorrow night. Kicking off at 8oclock. I've fought for Fred before so might get another run if he hasn't got too many fighters. If not I'll just get up the front, throw my hand up, and be the opposition. Been training good in preparation for Masters in April and ready to go.

Fought like a hairy goat and lost on points to the Mohican. Half a dozen beers before I went in probably didn't help. Told Fred I'll fight him again tomorrow night. Had a bit of fun but hope I can fight a bit better tomorrow. No beers tomorrow but there will be no excuses. A few good fights there.

Beer prior to sport has made a hairy goat out of all of us at one time or other.

Had a ball tonight. Fought for Fred against a local punter and had a win. He came to fight early but ran out of puff. Just had some fun after that. Some good fights.

How much is Fred paying punters out of the crowd who get a win against his fighter these days?

He said he would pay $30 a minute. So if they win after 3 rounds he would pay them $90. Don't think he had to pay any punters. There were a few draws so he kept his money.

The tent is on again in Toowoomba tonight. I’m having a crack for Fred again against a local bloke keen for a go. Should be a good night.

A friend of friend had a go in Fred's tent not that long ago. The bloke can go a bit and was awarded a draw.

Fred talks to the crowd and willing fighters come up on the plank. Then us from the Troupe step up and Fred matches us up.

I don’t think Fred had to pay any last night. Wasn’t a big crowd there but he put on a show.

Does Fred give any pre-fight instructions to his own fighters?

No Fred leaves that to the blokes who are helping out in the corner. I had a tag team match on the Saturday and had another win. Not much in front of us.
