That said, we haven’t seen him against anyone who looked in much danger of fighting back. Brook sure as hell will, especially in front of his home town fans. He might prove too strong over the distance for Spence, but this should be a great competitive fight.

Brook by late stoppage.

Yeah Spence looks the part but so did Jeff Lacy.
Exactly my thoughts - this could be a repeat of calzaghe lacy in brooks favour. All depends how he is at the weight.

I think the Spence team were convinced that Brook would vacate and move up and suddenly there man has to travel for his shot, not so sure they will be as confident as they are portraying. Spence looks decent enough but Algieri and Bundu were both past there best and they are possibly the best names on his record. Also not totally convinced he holds a shot well, Lartey buzzed him at the end of the 7th early in Spence's career and he took the 8th round off and looked like a man who had clearly been affected, albeit not alarmingly.

Surely Brook's team would not take this on if the weight was a huge problem, they had a ready made excuse with him fighting at Middle last time, I think he fancies the job and this is one I am really looking forward to.

The Lacy comparison doesn't hold up, as Kel is no where near as good as Joe was.

They aren't even in the same league. Calzaghe was a far superior fighter, and had proven more in a shorter period of time.

Kell Brook has one top level win (one in which even one of the judges didn't think he won) and a severe beating at a higher weight he was mercifully saved from the legitimate conclusion) and people want to talk about unproven? GTFOH wow. I can't wait to see Spence end this lil fairytale the Brook fans are lost in.

Not when their main target still seems to be to fight Khan. This obsession with Khan is causing Brook his carrier.

I'm not convinced this will happen because of the weight.

People need to read this again and think

http://www.skysports.com/golovkin-vs-br ... 10531027/1

30 days to go and Brook was 16lbs over whilst GGG was 5lbs over.

Brook was the one moving up 2 weight classes. He looked reasonably lean in that picture and his body will have adjusted to the weight after a full camp.

Brooks weight in the link above is 29lbs over the welterweight limit.

If this fight happens then Brook will have not made 147 for 14 months.

Only because he didn't have to get down to welterweight.....if he was boxing at welter he would have been lighter at middle he was eating pretty much what he wanted. The lay off from the GGG fight will have done him good all the muscle he put on will have wasted and hopefully give him a better chance of doing the weight

This is as good as it gets in the sport. I hope Brook isn't compromised by making 147 or by the wear and tear from GGG. Two fantastic fighters...it's what the sport should give us more of.

Spence and his team have been dying for a chance like this for ages. I talked to him after his fight 3 opponents ago and he told me he would love to fight brook in the UK. Big step up in class for him, but his mentality is top notch.

No matter what happens, people will say he looks drained on the scales and read into it. We wont know until fight night. The biggest thing he will lose by dropping down is punch resistance. I think a lot will depend on if Spence can take a punch and we'll know the answer to that inside 2 rounds.
No matter what we think, its a great match up and one nobody expected Brook to take. So lets just sit back and enjoy the ride

For me spence has too much for brook,he is too elusive and has power, when iv seen brook fight he has no other gear other than 2nd but when ppl put it on him he holds and doesnt know what to do. GGG was a win win situation for brook whatever happened brook woukd come out smelling of roses but this is a different ball game, thurman has dodged spence for about 3 years now. Spence is the real deal if u ask ne

Both are heavy handed without being devastating, both are talented world level operators. Brooks experience gives him the edge for me and we know how he deals with adversity, I'm not sure we have any evidence of that from Spence yet (that's not to say he will simply crumble of course)

I'm about 70/30 Brook I think but it would be a good competitive fight and should be fairly entertaining
Genuine question, is how he deals with adversity a positive for you? I'm not sure it is for me. He didn't really know what to do against Carson Jones when things were going wrong (and he was cut if i remember rightly) and against GGG, he was constantly pawing at his own eye and it completely distracted him.

My memory isn't too sharp, did he not just run out of steam against Jones, that wasnpoor preparation more than anything surely and the guy looks like someone that trains like a beast now.

As for GGG, you can't criticise him for that. Pawing at his eye ffs. The man had his eye socket broken and not only chose to battle on against one of the heaviest handed punchers in the game, he kept on fighting and taking it too GGG, the mans heart is not in question when poo goes south.
Just to add that Kell had his nose bust by Carson Jones and was swallowing blood for the last four rounds. I don't think he can be blamed for not being at his best in those closing rounds.

Plenty of fighters have a bust up nose during a fight. Carson Jones isn't a top level operator

i remember his bust nose against jones because he kept pawing at it, i remember him getting hit low against GGG because he complained to ref, i remember him getting hit on back of his head against GGG because he complained to ref and of course he let everybody know his eye was bust by tapping it, likes to comunicate these things during a fight does kell

There's a lot of excuses made for Kell Brook. He isn't the only one in their who's had broken eye sockets, and noses, and been swallowing blood.

Brook gets a rough ride on here.

It might only be one fight but his away win against Porter certainly puts him up there in the division. Spence has also shown his potential against Bundu and Algieri.

It's too easy to belittle these achievements but the facts above show, in my opinion, that we have two of the better fighters in the division going head to head for a world title! Both of them deserve this fight and whichever one loses doesn't mean the end for them.

It's win/win for the fans.

I'm convinced the plan against GGG was to have a go and Dom to throw the towel in when it started getting too much. If not, then they were ridiculous tactics.

Brook is coming off a bit of a hiding though, bad bad injury and really having to boil himself down to 147. Spence is fresh and on the rise at 147

Brook v Spence won't be the 20th as the thread title said should be 27th from what I've read.

Still no surprise at having another PPV a few weeks after. Sky did two in May 2015, May v Pac and Brook v Gavin.

A fair few posters have said sky will end up doing an old WWE model of having a PPV a month if they can get away with it.
