David Haye versus Tony Bellew.

Post by WildWaylon »

I think its more than pretty certain Haye will get the win so I wont be buying the PPV. I like to watch 50/50 fights and I dont see any other result than a David Haye win. Tony will fight like a tiger, but I just dont see him getting the better of Haye.

I've always liked Haye. His fights are usually exciting, I think he's good for the sport, and personally I find him a fairly likeable character. I think boxing is better with David Haye being in it. He's been in a few obvious money fights, but in fairness to him he went away from home to fight Mormeck when the guy was the best cruiserweight in the world, took a fight against Enzo that he probably didn't need to take to unify, went away against an admittedly limited but absolutely huge man in Valuev and ended up falling short away from home again against Wlad. It isn't like his whole career has been gimmes.

Bellew's an odd one. I don't dislike the guy; he clearly seems very passionate and I like the notion of his career meaning so much to him. He's done brilliantly really to get to this stage. But I can't for the life of me buy his reasoning for talking himself into this fight. I know it'll pay well, but I don't think he really believes he'll win, and nor do I get the notion that a bad loss does him no harm. If Haye annihilates him he looks a pretty feeble champion back at 200.

Haye started at Cruiserweight, Bellew has entered the division and done well and all fair respect to him for doing as well as he has but Haye has grown into the heavyweight division now.
Looking at the two of them Haye looks like the better conditioned at least athletically and does appear to be the more natural boxer at the heavyweight limit but we all know that conditioning and looks can mean next to nothing when it comes to boxing at Heavyweight when one punch can change a fight around.

Haye has been settled at heavyweight for a while now and his last two fights were glorified tune-up matches but he should be more then able to put Bellew down before the end of the fight.

Bellew for me been going back and forth between them . I think Bellew wants it more sometimes that's all it takes. Been watching Hayes last fights yes he is a "sniper" styled boxer when he smells blood he rushes in in comparison to Bellew especially if you watch Bellew against BJ Flores it was clinical didn't go over the top just went about his business and i suspect Haye will rush him the first few rounds if he cant get him out i reckon Haye will struggle after the first few rounds where Bellew will thrive on it. If you look at it who is the better fighter in the middle rounds for me its Bellew and its going to be won there . Bellew points win. :bag:

Surely trolling? If not you must be fairly new to boxing, a massive mismatch which I'll be surprised if Bellew makes it past halfway let alone wins on points.

I'm sorry but this has to be, in my opinion, the most far fetched breakdown of a fight I've seen on this forum in a long time. It isn't even remotely a contest. Wanting it more means almost nothing, aye maybe when one guy goes on knowing he's there to lose, or a slight edge like this can make the difference in a truest evenly matched fight. This isn't that though!
Flores has been a part time boxer for years, really since his broadcasting career took off. Added to that he was never world class anyway. Bellew "breaking him down" isn't much of a marker when judging this fight.
As for Haye rushing in - this is pure nonsense. Haye likes to talk himself up as all action but in reality he is pretty conservative, using his speed and judgement of gaps in his opponents defence to pick his moments to attack. Christ he didn't even rush in against DeMori!!!!
This is not a fight that needs breaking down. Bellew has cashed out in a fight he deep down knows he most likely will not win. Haye wants money and low risk before a proper cash cow fight v AJ at Wembley late summer. Who can blame either of them. If you want to know how it'll go though go and watch Haye v Harrison and imagine Haye having even less to worry about and Bellew having less distance to keep him at range. It's a three round fight at an absolute push

Not a fan of such thinking Crease. I don't want to see either man knocked out cold let alone for a couple of minutes.

Neither am I normally.

But I have history with Bellew. He PM'd me a few times and told me to shut up - and promptly invited me down to his boxing gym to sort it out...

The poll in BM was intriguing....loads of top boxers and big names going one way then the other...a fun read. Hughie Fury was particularly classy I thought :TU:

I get the feeling Haye isn't well liked in boxing circles or more accurately, there's a hint of jealousy when it comes to him maybe?

The BN poll when he fought Enzo was heavily weighted towards Enzo from memory. Reasons why Haye was being dismissed included 'not tough enough' ( used more than once )

A bloke can be a little in to himself and a bit of playboy with a flashy style and still he a tough pudendum.

What got him so riled up?

Acts like that suggest he is a total bully. Professional fighter inviting normal people to 'sort it out' over trivial, nonsense matters too.

Haye looks like a bodybuilder to me, as a opposed to a boxer.

Haye has always had a good physique, but I have never seen him so ripped.

I don't believe all his rippling muscles will be an issue against Bellew, as this looks like a mismatch to me, but there will be problem when he eventually decides he's serious about his comeback & fights someone worthwhile.

Haye hasn't rushed in since the Thompson fight, but he is a world class finisher. It'll be cagey until Haye hurts him, then it'll be all over. As good as Bellew is at coming back from being hurt - Stevenson aside, Haye won't give him the chance.

I can imagine Boomer boasting that he took a few punches and landed one or two on Haye after the event. Maybe even got past round 3 which will seem like a win. Brook v GGG style

I think more out of hope than expectation.

As crazy as this sounds, Haye is a relative unkown quantity.

He was out for a long time, then had to endure major surgery which we were all told would mean he couldn't box again.

Then he returns bulkier & slower to face a waxwork dummy & a car crash dummy, now, after a mini lay-off, he's back more ripped than ever.

Bellew should theoretically be no match for Haye, but one thing is for certain, Bellew will fight back & how will Haye's shoulder hold up & will his new found bodybuilder's physique have any effect?

I don't think Bellew has a chance, but there is just a modicum of doubt to make some think otherwise.

He PM'd me because I said that I rated Nathan Clev as a better boxer than him.

Second thing was that I said that the talent of the Crusietweight division was shalow because all the very good Crusiers moved up and left the dovision for good,
(Haye, Gomez, Adamek, Mormeck)

Thus leacing behind a shallow division.

Haye is a vicious finisher on the whole. Once he hurts you, he finishes you. And Bellew will get hurt and some stage and will get terminated.

The only fights Haye has been really cagey is against the huge guys - Valuev, Klitschko. Even Harrison for a round is two.

Haye waits for his opening and then bangs you. Hard. Bellend does not have the size to make Haye act cagey. He will be in distance Bellew has a shorter reach by 4 inch and is the same height.

Bellend is going to sleep I reckon 1-3

You should've taken up the pudgy, unfit, insecure chav on his offer.

Obviously he's a better boxer than 99% on here but on the cobbles he'd be exposed for what he is - a useless fat loudmouth.

Fairplay to you for taking the higher moral ground though

Haye is a born fighter, no doubt about it. When Chisora and Bellew were mouthing off at him in press conferences, Haye didn't hesitate in whacking them both.

He's basically a born winner. Always was going to be something special and knew it. Extremely confident. I've only seen him doubt himself a bit against Klitschko.

Likes to be on top....when he “ran after” Klitschko and Klitschko just stopped and calmly turned around he didn’t know what to do. Was completely surprised. It was obvious then what was coming. Two arrogant big heads this fight with not much grace between the pair.
