Anyone buying hatton PPV (when its set?)

Its fairly inevitable that Hattons US debut will be shown live on Sky Sports PPV at stupid-o'clock in the morning (4am start maybe?). Its also fairly inevitable that Ricky wont be fighting an elite fighter of the division, early indications were good (remember the 4man shortlist back in january) but with only 65odd days left till fight night and still no announcment on an opponent I think we can all agree its going to be what I'd call a dissapointment, especially for a unified champion.

So my question is this, how many of you will be paying the £14.99 to watch the hatton v TBA in foxwoods, and how many will take a stance against the overpriced tripe that I feel will be served up. 150,000 buys for Hatton Maussa (i think). More or less for his next defence? Surely less if rabah is announced?

I will becuase although we hear it may not be an elite boxer in the other corner, the fact Hatton has gone to America to defend his title warrants support.

How many others seem prepared to do that?

I don't see what's so valiant about Ricky going to the US.

He's had enough marking time fights ffs.

And fighting a B-list opponent (which now seems inevitable) hardly makes his task Herculean.

No way if it's another B level opponent - plunking down for the PPV just encourages them to keep taking the piss.

It says a lot when your own countrymen will not pay to watch you fight in a different country. Hatton only has himself to blame though, he really has fought complete garbage for years and is continuing that thread, much to the dismay of certain posters here.

It was a similar story with Calzaghe. Many of his own countrymen were hoping he'd get beaten for a long time. Finally he fought Lacy when he simply had no other option.

I'll get a couple of mates round, purchase a bag of goodies and get leathered (NB: remember to tape the fight though, so you can see what really happened)

well said that man. big fight nights are a bloody good excuse to get your good mates over and have a larf, as Jim Mc will tell you its familiar faces always round mine, and sometimes the only time we all get together at the same time other than stags or weddings, for this reason aswell as the boxing I dont miss em.

Yeah, I heard that as well with Esham Pickering challenging for the IBF on the bill as well. If even one of those fights gets on the undercard I'd probably get it alright.

I wouldn't say action packed. His fights are repetitive snoozefests in my opinion. What's going to happen? Oh that's right Hattons going to bullrush in and throw punches. Whats going to happen now? Oh that's right Hattons going to bullrush in and throw punches.

Kind of gets boring when you've seen him do it to so many poor fighters.

I get so nervous when Hatton fights really wound up knot in my stomach, got the same thing watching Calzaghe beat Lacy even after it was clear he was winning hands down.
Does anybody else suffer from this?
or am i just a nervous wreck?

That's the funniest thing I've read on here in a while

There's no much consistency with PPV shows - not that anybody can guarantee that a given fight will definitely be a blockbuster, but the line-ups on a PPV show can be worse than the all-nighter shows that Sky occasionally put on. You think they'd push the boat out a bit and improve the quality of the bouts on offer - that they don't, makes me wonder why the PPV revenue isn't spread out more evenly across the card. A top notch main event doesn't, in itself, justify a PPV charge if the rest of the show sucked.
