Adrien Broner vs Adrian Granados

Post by handsofstone »

This Saturday on allegedly, at 1st glance it looks a formality that Broner wins and although I do agree, I do think Granados can make life tough for Broner, Granados's win over Imam last year was kind of a lower level Maidana/Broner beatdown and Granados has that aggressive come forward style like Maidana that Broner struggled with, Broner can look great when he isn't pressed and gets time to pick his shots, he likes to fight at his own pace and Granados wont allow him any breathing room so I reckon it wil make for a good fight with a small chance of a big upset, all Granados losses were by SD/MD including ones to Frankie Gomez and Felix Diaz who are top unbeaten prospects

I didn't think Broner was great in his last fight against Theophane, credit for getting the stoppage but the ref screwed up by stopping Theophane as he was in distress from getting hit low, I remember Ashley was having a good spell too as Broner was having one of his lazy spells and Granados is a lot more relentless than Theophane so could be interesting if Broner underestimates him

I read recently that Broner claims to have got his act together and is dedicated more than ever, I hope its true, I cant stand the guy but he's talented and it would be a shame for his career to go down the pan without reaching its true potential, he's nowhere near as good a fighter as he thinks he is but he's definitely got talent

I enjoyed watching Granados upset the apple cart against Imam and would love to see him go a step further and beat a much more proven fighter like Broner.

It may be a long shot but stranger things have happened.

I'm still of the mindset that it takes someone special to beat AB at 140 or lower.

I see him winning wide on the cards.

Despite all his BS he's a super-talented guy who's probably under-rated. If he really wanted to he could boil down to LW IMO.

Love the way Granados scraps. This should be a fun fight, competitive early, but I think that Broner will catch, hurt and be able to finish Granados between 5 and 10. I hope Granados proves me wrong.

Yeah I'd read it's 'probably' gonna be 147. I think it was supposed to be at a catch weight of 142 the AB had changed it and said he'd 'probably' be able to make 147. Guys a fuckin helmet!

Wow. Just presumed it would be at 140. He should still win this Granados isn't the biggest.

Broner had the talent to be a top P4P talent.
Eating his way out of divisions and ridiculous out of the ring behaviour have tarnished his legacy. He will forever be remembered for his out of the ring persona as opposed to his in-ring achievements.

So much for the new and improved focused Broner, same old story with him, far too lazy and predictable, I had Granados winning 96-94, I wouldn't call it a robbery that Broner got the nod, he did have the class but he didn't have near the same workrate as Granados who just kept plugging away and making things tough for Broner, there wasn't much quality in what Granados did but Broner was just so lazy he allowed Granados to outmuscle him, Broner did have some success with right hand leads and right uppercuts on the inside but for me it wasn't enough,he needs to learn how to throw punches in bunches instead of pot shotting with single punches , also not sure if Broner injured the left hand as he didn't throw many jabs or hooks

Not a classic but another fight where Granados will feel hard done by

Watched it this morning, must admit I ended up spinning through a lot of the fight as was in a bit of a hurry, but seemed a close one. Granados didn't look particularly good, but Broner is just too lazy.

Can't see Broner beating any of the big names at 147, needs to be at 140, can't see him making 135 ever again. He's more interested in the celebrity.

He's not far from another loss, almost lost last night. I had Granados by 1 point.

Too lazy, too set in his ways and thinks he is far better than he actually is.

Just looked last night like he's not got much left tbh.

What did Granados mean, 'They messed with the scales?'

I think Broner has all the groundwork to be an elite level fighter, he's quick, sharp and strong, but for one he's fighting in the wrong division and more importantly he has no boxing brain and his IQ in the ring is very low IMO, he gets by from being talented fundementaly , he does have heart but its like he has no clue how to adjust in a fight apart from get busier which considering how little work he does isn't hard, his ego is so fvcking massive that he is incapable of learning or listening to improve his ability

He needs a boot up the arse or binned from whoever is training him

I had it 95-95 and Granados didn't even have one of his better fights.
Broner as got a decision to make. Live the life and be a elite level LW. Live a better life and be a top LWW or do what he does and struggle at WW.
The talents there but he's in the wrong weight class. I can't see him fulfilling his potential (strange one to say as he's a 4 weight world champion).

They both came in over weight initially.

Scored the fight a draw myself.

Think Granados was referring to the fact it was originally made at 142. Also when was it changed from 12 to 10 rounds. I had Granados on an acca any chance due to that being changed that result could be void (rest came in).

95-95 but Broner had to win the last two rounds to get the draw on my card.

Anyone else think that Broner put more effort into his ring walk than into the fight??

I don't think he did have the talent to be an elite fighter. He's too flat footed.

I don't know that he will 'forever be remembered' for anything really now.

Who trains him like? I bet there are a few British trainers who would take all his nonsense, fling it out the window and put him in his place. It sounds like he’s got “being a dick” hardwired into him.
I imagine at 10 rounds there was no “title” on the line.....I wonder how much he got.....one suspects that after his boxing he won’t have all that many employable skills.

I scored it the same, thought Broner took too many rounds off, or rather, Granados outworked him.

Broner needs to get down to 140, he doesn't have the power to trouble anybody at 147, however, I think he's far too lazy to do so.

He got $1 million for the fight. Mike Stafford has always trained him ( he deserves a medal for putting up with him) he also trains Robert Easter and Raushee Warren
