Andrzej Fonfara vs. Chad Dawson

Post by Freedom2013 »

Interesting fight on the Garcia-Thurman card.

The winner is back as a contender, the loser is pretty much out of the picture.

So many good light HW fights coming up in the next couple of months:

Fonfara - Dawson
plus
Artur Beterbiev - Sullivan Barrera
Oleksandr Gvozdyk - Yunieski Gonzalez
Dmitry Bivol - Robert Berridge (slightly interesting)
Eleider Alvarez - Lucian Bute (slightly interesting)

Now if only Joe Smith could get a fight, if Adonis Stevenson would fight a contender, and Andre Ward would man up and rematch Sergey Kovalev, it would be the hottest division in boxing.

I think that Alvarez v Bute is at least as interesting as Fonfara v Dawson. All good stuff.

I think LHW is more stacked than Cruiser and the fights are happening, with the exception of Ward v Krusher II (so far).

And the exception of Adonis vs anyone. Fonfara-Dawson is an okay fight, but I don't think beating White suggests that Dawson is any less past it than he was against Karpency. It's been a few years of decline for Chad IMO, whereas I think that Fonfara was just caught cold.

There is some solid stuff here, although I prefer CWs run over the last year of fights like Usyk-Glowacki, Glowacki-USS, Lebedev-Gassiev, Dorticos-Kalenga, Bellew-Makabu, and now Huck-Briedis. There's also been talk of Gassiev-Glowacki, and I hope that goes ahead.

No doubt that Cruisers have led the way but the LHWs seem to be following their lead now.
