Balmer said he has watched the Green-Mundine fight and in his opinion "the result should stand". He said "something quite extraordinary would need to be presented at an appeal to have the result changed to a non contest".
Balmer went on to say the best Mundine could probably hope for was the instruction for a rematch.
With whom can appeal be lodged? ANBF SA can't order rematch, as it wasn't State title, neither can ANBF Ltd (OZ title governing body), because in the end it wasn't really Green's title defence due to 83kgs weight limit.
Brian Amatruda has been acting on behalf of Mundine and hassling Frank Hadley about the matter. But according to Amatruda, Hadley has told him he thought Green won the fight. So Amatruda is claiming Hadley is conflicted.
In any case Mundine's appeal is being referred to as a "preliminary appeal", whatever that amounts to?

The head of the WA Combat Sports Authority thought Paul Briggs was fine to fight Green when they fought... Did you believe him?
I think he's been shown the door (maybe even thrown over the fence) since then

Bernie Balmer has been Chairman of Professional Boxing and Combat Sports Victoria for at least 15 years. Probably more like 20, He also has over 30 years' experience in criminal law.
Let's put it this way. I'd value his opinion ahead of yours.

Absolute ZERO
Pretty much what I suspected.
Fight was a FARCE from day one, and it panned out as such to a tee

Balmer has lasted 15 (whatever) years, because he selects Muppets to fill the Board. Over the years, at least 20 had been & gone, because they disagreed with him. If I was Vic Sports Minister, he'd be 1st one I'd throw over the fence, 2nd would be power tripping goose McGuinness

Oh, that old chestnut! If someone that is of a higher standing holds an opinion... They must be right!
Michael, Bika, McGuire, Fenech... Want me to keep going?

It's very much like asking people who attend a football match who they think deserved to win. Their opinions can be interesting and there are always some who blame the umpire. But the scoreboard shows the result and it doesn't matter how much people bitch and moan after the game the scoreboard remains the same.
