Thomas Essomba vs Jay Harris
Essomba defends his Commonwealth Flyweight title against Harris on Friday on NoxBation, I haven't seen Essomba before, I mind the fight when he KO'd Din to win the title was supposed to be shown on Spike but ended up being pulled about 2 days before so I never seen it, he's coming off a loss against Butcher(10 round decision) it was meant to be a title defence but I think Butcher failed to make weight so it went ahead as a non title fight so Essomba is still Commonwealth champ, also I never knew until yesterday he was a London Olympian who was put out by Paddy Barnes
I think ive seen most of Harris's fights, I'm sure he's fought on most Welsh cards on allegedly, he's unbeaten in 9 and coming off a 6 fight KO streak so definitely developing his power, no notable wins yet just the usual expected foes at this stage of his career so Essomba is quite a big step up and he showed against Din he doesn't care much for unbeaten prospects
Hopefully its a good fight and Harris can pull it off, looking forward to seeing Boy Jones Jr in action again, he's still a baby but improving well in each passing fight, Harley Benn making his debut as well
Cant beat a Friday nights boxing

Hadn't realised this was on. Decent main event and something to watch on a Friday night for a change.

Yeah it should be a good 'un hopefully, I used to love Friday Fight Night on Sky, that was when British and Commonwealth title fights were respected and not pushed down the bill as an afterthought for a International/ Inter Continental fightStuarty30 wrote:Hadn't realised this was on. Agree mate. Miss the European nights as well. A lot of our guys seem to be swerving the European nowadays for meaningless ranking fights against nobodies.handsofstone wrote:Yeah it should be a good 'un hopefully, I used to love Friday Fight Night on Sky, that was when British and Commonwealth title fights were respected and not pushed down the bill as an afterthought for a International/ Inter Continental fightStuarty30 wrote:Hadn't realised this was on. I remember the spell where Craig Docherty had fought that dirty little bastard Sinitsin then Arthur fought him then fought Doc for the European. They were great nights. Sure they were a Friday and on terrestrial tv as well if my memory serves me right?

Jay's father Peter was British Champ, lost it to Paul Hodginson and beat Wilson Docherty among others.

Really rate Harris. Good step up fight. Could go either way, Essomba isn't bad either.
I see a distance fight either way But I'm edging Harris.

Re: Thomas Essomba vs Jay Harris
Great prospect is Jay and a nice guy to boot. He looks 16 but is 26 haha
Re: Thomas Essomba vs Jay Harris
I saw Thomas Essomba few times and the guy is just a punching machine at a different level than Jay ! I'll bet on him, as Jay Harris isn't cooked yet. never had a real opponent and a 10 round fight before
Re: Thomas Essomba vs Jay Harris
Thomas Essomba as had 3 fights that have fell through grateful for allegedly putting this fight on Thomas is very strong and hungry no's he as to win ,

Best I've ever seen Poxton. Looked really good. Fantastic workrate. Shows what top level sparring does.davie wrote:The Poxton vs Boy Jones jr fight was a cracker.

I have seen BJJ a couple of times though and did think this kind of result was coming. Wouldn't mind seeing him moved slowly now and perhaps up a weight class or four as he fills out. He looks terribly skinny at SFW. At 6'0" he would still be tall as a welter.

Could be wrong but I think hes on about moving down to Feather in the long termdavie wrote:Wouldn't mind seeing him moved slowly now and perhaps up a weight class or four as he fills out. He looks terribly skinny at SFW. At 6'0" he would still be tall as a welter.

I strongly suspect we will see issues making weight at some pointLancashireLoyal wrote:Could be wrong but I think hes on about moving down to Feather in the long termdavie wrote:Wouldn't mind seeing him moved slowly now and perhaps up a weight class or four as he fills out. Don't know how these lads can do 9.3 at 6ft that must be hard going
