Haye vs Bellew undercard
Haye vs Bellew undercard
Possibly one of the worst undercards for a PPV?
Ohara Davies vs Derry Matthews
As much as people don't like Ohara you can't help but admire his talent and with Derry': last performance against a much lighter puncher in a lower weight class I'm expecting a similar result. Even if Derry puts on a hell of a performance and shock quite a lot of people, still won't be able to save the show as this is a shocking co-main
Eggington vs Malignaggi
Not a bad fight probably quite close to a 50/50 but that's due to Malignaggi being shot, whoever wins isn't really going to progress much further than this sort of level.
Katie Taylor vs TBA
Great to see her in action, but really should be challenging the top girls in more rounds, she': fairly old so why waste time?
Ted Cheeseman vs TBA
Good prospect but a knock over job
Craig Glover vs TBA
Same as above
And that is it?

Re: Haye vs Bellew undercard
Wasn't there talk of Lee Selby being on the undercard in a non-title fight?

Yeah Lee Selby apparently on in a 10 rounder, but he'd have to be on against one of the big boys to save this card. There is a another fight that slips the mind. Buglioni vs someone?

Buglioni defending British against ricky summers 12-0. Was approved by the board the other day.

Aye, sounds underwhelming! Summers any good?maley1984 wrote:TheGingerBomber wrote:Yeah Lee Selby apparently on in a 10 rounder, but he'd have to be on against one of the big boys to save this card. There is a another fight that slips the mind. Buglioni vs someone?

I don't know the lad so just looked him up - a dozen fights, top 10 ranking and a British Title shot without facing anybody with a winning record.TheGingerBomber wrote:Aye, sounds underwhelming! I know him his a sound lad. Got decent skill set. I know his sparred froch and goes up to Joe Gallaghers a fair bit for sparring. His untested really as a pro it's a big step up from the level his been fighting at. But good luck to him.

Not like Buglioni's a world beater so he might have a good chance!
Re: Haye vs Bellew undercard
Has anyone heard any further news on Selby on this card?
To be honest, I have heard nothing and only just noticed he is listed on the card on Boxrec....will be nice to see him get a few rounds under his belt, though I suspect he will be down the card and hardly mentioned.

I'm almost surprised they're even bothering with an undercard at all tbh.

Re: Haye vs Bellew undercard
I may be wrong but I reckon Hearn would like to have done a better undercard, but he's said in the past that the fighters have power in these situations. So my guess is the money to stack this card is going on Haye.Boxerbeetle wrote:I'm almost surprised they're even bothering with an undercard at all tbh.
Re: Haye vs Bellew undercard
Lee Selby opponent confirmed, Andoni Gago. Not exactly a world beater but it's a non-title fight. At least Selby can get out and earn a few quid following the whole fiasco is Vegas and he won't have to make the Featherweight limit either!TheGingerBomber wrote:I may be wrong but I reckon Hearn would like to have done a better undercard, but he's said in the past that the fighters have power in these situations. Also Frank Buglioni has announced he's injured so sounds like that fight with Summers is off!
Re: Haye vs Bellew undercard
I've also heardo him say that the undercard in these kind of events will purposely be weaker anyway when the main event sells itselfTheGingerBomber wrote:I may be wrong but I reckon Hearn would like to have done a better undercard, but he's said in the past that the fighters have power in these situations. It's weird though cos I reckon this PPV is being trashed by a lot of people who think it's a mismatch with a poor undercard. Question is does Haye have same pulling power as AJ?
Re: Haye vs Bellew undercard
I think he might do mate, perhaps even more. What was it Haye had for one of his fights on Dave, wasn't it 3,000,000 viewers?TheGingerBomber wrote:DannyMCR wrote:I've also heardo him say that the undercard in these kind of events will purposely be weaker anyway when the main event sells itselfTheGingerBomber wrote:

I couldn't imagine Joshua getting that on terrestrial TV even if it was against somebody known to the public like Price, Hughie Fury or even Whyte to be honest

Hmmm, I don't know, I think AJ would hit 3 million at least. But HAYe might well be a bigger PPv star, gotta wait and see.DannyMCR wrote:I think he might do mate, perhaps even more. Will say a lot of Casuals don't like/rate Haye
Re: Haye vs Bellew undercard
Personally more often than not I find Eddies cards enjoyable and good value.
I would say this is comprehensively the weakest undercard he has put on so far.
With the pantomime mismatch main event and weak for ppv standqrds undercard I think this bill is no better than the recent Eubank Jr ppv, hope its not a sign of things to come.

Re: Haye vs Bellew undercard
Buglioni v summers is off. Buglioni injured in sparring yesterday fight to b reschedule
Re: Haye vs Bellew undercard
I always thought the card would be fairly poor because it`s a co promotion and Haye isn`t going to want to spend to much on the card. It`s a bit like Quigg-Frampton where cyclone were the co promoters and by all accounts didn`t want to spend much too money on the undercard and that was a very weak one.Don`t get me wrong Hearn does`t always get it right but for the most part the ppv undercards are good enough.

Exactly what I was getting at, hopefully Brook/Spence is strongashedward wrote:I always thought the card would be fairly poor because it`s a co promotion and Haye isn`t going to want to spend to much on the card. It`s a bit like Quigg-Frampton where cyclone were the co promoters and by all accounts didn`t want to spend much too money on the undercard and that was a very weak one.Don`t get me wrong Hearn does`t always get it right but for the most part the ppv undercards are good enough.

Got a feeling there will be a very good chief support for that one to help the buys.TheGingerBomber wrote:Exactly what I was getting at, hopefully Brook/Spence is strongashedward wrote:I always thought the card would be fairly poor because it`s a co promotion and Haye isn`t going to want to spend to much on the card. It`s a bit like Quigg-Frampton where cyclone were the co promoters and by all accounts didn`t want to spend much too money on the undercard and that was a very weak one.Don`t get me wrong Hearn does`t always get it right but for the most part the ppv undercards are good enough.
Re: Haye vs Bellew undercard
Has Katie Taylor's opponent been announced yet?
I see she is down for this event and also the Joshua fight?
Eddie seems to have her on the fast track. She has picked the weight class with the most formidable champion in ladies boxing, so I guess not ready for a shot at that?

Re: Haye vs Bellew undercard
I was hoping Chisora/Whyte rematch but if it's in Sheffield it'd be a missed opportunity to stick that on. That would definitely help sell it.ashedward wrote:Got a feeling there will be a very good chief support for that one to help the buys.TheGingerBomber wrote:Exactly what I was getting at, hopefully Brook/Spence is strongashedward wrote:I always thought the card would be fairly poor because it`s a co promotion and Haye isn`t going to want to spend to much on the card. It`s a bit like Quigg-Frampton where cyclone were the co promoters and by all accounts didn`t want to spend much too money on the undercard and that was a very weak one.Don`t get me wrong Hearn does`t always get it right but for the most part the ppv undercards are good enough.
However Eddie has said the O2 could be a possibility
