LSC never even fought a particularly dangerous opponent prior to Abner Mares and Frampton so it doesn't surprise me he's not gonna fight one of his toughest opponents in their backyard. He should definitely like you said Frampton fought him in his home country twice, but I doubt very much it's gonna happen.Stuarty30 wrote:He gave Frampton his word apparently. He's also been on record saying he'd have no problems travelling to Belfast. When it's came down to it he's backed out. I don't personally see any excuse for that kind of nonsense. Frampton has fought him twice in the states. Fairs fair.gilgamesh wrote:I can't say I'm surprised that Santa Cruz wouldn't do it in Belfast. I don't think I recall him ever saying he would. Frampton just wanted him too.
I agree with you though. I'm not surprised LSC doesn't fancy it now. I think Frampton beats him in Belfast.

I hear you ladsStuarty30 wrote:Yeah I scored it to LSC and like yourself I'm a big Frampton fan. I think if LSC comes to Belfast then Carl would edge him due to the extra push from the home support and him being in comfortable surroundings. Not because of the judges. LSC and his team look to have bottled it here IMO.Crease wrote:I agree, I too scored the fight in Santa Cruz's favour.chrisnew86 wrote:Frampton lost that fight, he wasn't as good as LSC on the night. Nothing to do with home judging
My point was more a figurative one. For example, had Carl edged the fight, I don't think the judges would have legitimately gave him the past victory.

He wants a fight in Belfast it will have to be Selby, who takes that fight in a heartbeat.
Can't blame LSC not coming over. He does big business stateside so wouldn't get the financial benefit of travelling.
I see Frampton travelling again. By all accounts Vegas were happy with the second fight so I expect the third one to be there.

I've seen 4 different interviews with Selby were he said he'd be happy to fight at Windsor Park in Belfast...PredatorHayds wrote:He wants a fight in Belfast it will have to be Selby, who takes that fight in a heartbeat.
But then, he ALWAYS says after it, that the fight would make more sense in the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff because of it'so much greater capacity.
(Which logically - is very difficult to argue with...
And I'd guess that this suggestion would be one of the first things discussed at the negotiating table).

I'd like that but it would be a 30-40k job max. When was the last time the Millennium Stadium had boxing?PredatorHayds wrote:I'd like that but it would be a 30-40k job max. Can't see it selling full capacity.
I can't remember any apart from Joe Calzaghe.

Very tense and very historically significant.
For the record Tyson v Klit was a fooking sh1te borefest of a fight, with no meaningful punches thrown or landed. Hence why there was zero interest in the rematch. But then, you know that really. And of course, we all know that you know that. But hey, let the pantomime continue...

Yes, for my sins i did watch the borefest. But describing it as a "fight"? Im not sure it could accurately be described as one of those.
Youre lack of objectivity is ridiculous. Perhaps it is you who should do the growing up.

No way was that a fight of the year candidate, that ludicrous. You could argue Fury's win was the performance of the year, but the fight was turgid, aside from a mildly competitive last rounds, but even the last round wasn't exactly Barrera v Morales.liamlion wrote:Yes quite; what about the last round?Horse wrote:What about the last round then?liamlion wrote:Mwah "fight of the year" hahahahacredibility = zero. It’s not a proper trilogy if one man’s at home 3 times, is it?@matt___s wrote:Personally I think its a mickeytake, SC's dad reckons he wont get a fair go in belfast, but of course it was fine for frampton to go to the states twice.
Anyway, it won’t really decide much - we know they are essentially as good as each other.
Put the Welshman in the mix before they face off a third time.

I think it did just over 3 million. Which by our standards isn't huge considering it was on free to air TV but it was huge by American standards.mickey1975 wrote:Is half a million viewers big business in a country that big? The only fight to beat it surprisingly was Spence-Bundu with approx 5million as it was free to air straight after USA basketball gold medal match. Shows how over the odds advertising pays stateside, especially for sporting event.
I had figures once on how much Tecate and Corona pumped into boxing. It was stupidly huge figures. I will have a look around see if I can find it.

Other than that shot, there was little or nothing to split them, and it kept LSC at bay a bit longer.Stuarty30 wrote:I mentioned fair and it's not silly at all! I think he's reached his limit, especially being up at featherweight, and wouldn't have won the first fight if he hadn't shaken Santa Cruz with the right uppercut.
Expecting the rubber match in Belfast makes me think people don't believe he can win unless with home bias.
Talking about fairness is silly because Frampton was treated fairly on the cards both times in the States.
It's silly to suggest that if Frampton hadn't landed that uppercut then he wouldn't have won! What round was that? 4th? Come on man!
Same shot that troubled Quigg, obviously.
Now people are looking out for that shot in CF's repertoire, they're wise to it and he may need something new.
Re: Frampton - Santa Cruz 3 - not in Belfast?
Must admit I'm with you. Without it being abysmal, I found it much less interesting than the first and don't have any real desire to see these two go at it for a third time.Horse wrote:I don't want a third fight.

You can't seriously believe that a 12 round fight with less than 150 punches landed (combined!) was any good to watch. It was terrible.Horse wrote:What about the last round then?liamlion wrote:Mwah "fight of the year" hahahahacredibility = zero. Troll ranking: #1

Frampton has plenty to his repertoire.Autobarn wrote:Other than that shot, there was little or nothing to split them, and it kept LSC at bay a bit longer.Stuarty30 wrote:I mentioned fair and it's not silly at all! The two shots you're alluding to couldn't have been more different. LSC was wobbled with a counter left hook during an exchange. Quigg was tagged by a right uppercut that broke his jaw.
The first fight was close but you don't win a distance fight based on one punch that landed in the fourth round. There was a lot more to it than that I'm afraid. Yeah it might have made LSC think twice for a round or two but there were plenty of exchanges after than particular one.

The main event peaked at 1.6million on ESPN with an additional 500k on ESPN espania so main event in total did just over 2.1million on ESPN stateside. These figures don't include worldwide broadcasts.

It's the equivalent of Frampton-Quigg being on ITV Saturday night prime time. I'm convinced it would do 10million terrestrial.
Don't forget the most watched USA fight in recent years Spence-Bundu only got 5 million viewers because ppl couldn't be bothered switching over after the basketball.
