Harley Benn and Naylor Ball

Post by Mimmy »

If anyone is watching these 2 fight tonight can you do a round by round on both fights. I was hoping to watch it but got to go to York to pick up my grandson this evening so not going to be able to watch it. Was looking forward to seeing Benn in action.

He won 2nd round stoppage, round 1 he came out throwing the kitchen sink, too eager and was clashing heads on way in but won the round but visibly tired. 2nd round got behind jab and landed body shots then jumped on him and threw a barrel of punches and ref stepped in. Done well.

Good win for the kid. Looks a bit 'podgy' though, not as sculptured as I thought he would be.

Decent opponent for his debut , and done quite well , , obviously in too much of a hurry , but time and experience will benefit

The Boy Jones result seemed a bit of a shocker. Anyone see the fight?

The clips from the weigh in I saw he looked very much a boy compared to Poxton. Think he's been hyped way too much too early.

Benn looks ok but a bit small for a full middleweight. Anybody know his age and height ?

He's 20 or 21, and probably around 5'10" if Boy Jones's 6'0" listing is accurate:

What's all the pouting from Benn's mother for? He did ok for a first fight novice, needs to train a bit harder to get anywhere though.

Didn't think he looked anywhere near middleweight - thought I was looking at a couple of light welters. surely looks like he can drop down to at least light middle - would look more like his natural weight. Threw in bunches without much accuracy.

It was his first pro fight (no amateur experience) so fair play to him, but he is miles and years away from anything like top level. He won`t be given the time to develop either.

He certainly is no middleweight is he. He is podgy and no muscle definition yet. Still, early doors so who knows. Does`nt look he most naturally gifted though.

You'll be pushed to see a better fight I'm a British ring this year . Make sure to watch it...boy Jones tough as hell but the other lads workrate was too much. Brilliant brilliant fight though. Would have been nobbins a few years back.

I hate to criticise a young kid, but the hole thing is just pretty off.
He doesn't seem to have any real natural ability, infact judging from his training videos he looks pretty terrible.
No amateur experience either, it's almost seems to have just decided that he wants to be a boxer since His brother Connor made his debut. I wouldn't normally comment on this type of thing, as I don't know the background (other then all that Twitter stuff recently) but he and his mother seem very eager to attack his dad at every opportunity, but at the same time he changed his second name to Benn, and comes out wearing Nigel's signature black shorts. He should be intelligent enough to realise the only reason he was on TV last night, and we are talking about him on here is because of his father, so IMO he shouldn't be so quick to keep bashing him as I find it a little off putting personally.

Putting that aside, he is fighting at to high a weight that's pretty clear. He needs to be down at little middle, maybe even welterweight. I will watch with interest, and wish him all the best.

Think he looks pretty good for the stage he's at, his fundamentals look a lot more sound than I expected.

Looks more like a welterweight to me, I think he's very soft looking, could certainly shed a few pounds, maybe light middle? He doesn't looked strong enough for 160.

FFS, do you know the history between him and his father? He's every right to bash him, Nigel did absolutely bugger all to deserve any respect from his son, aside from empty his nut sack.

He was very eager.

Safe to say, neither jnr has inherited Dad's talent for the sport though. I think Connor is very, very average and Harley didn't look too impressive. Very early days though. Don't hold your breath on another Benn/Eubank rivalry though!

I think Harley looks to have more natural talent, considering how little experience he has.
