definitely the best ive seen him.just to see him looking that strong for once and ruthless aswell.Add this to his shot selection and hes looking back on track.get him back in with Mendy and then make the Cardle fight.Boxing Prospect wrote:Okay...that was the best I've seen Campbell look since turning professional, the link to Rubio really might have done him the world of good. Looks more aggressive and more serious than he has through the rest of his career,

I remember thinking 'wow, Campbell looks good' prior to Mendy. Don't think Lopez was much to be honest....

Not premature at all !?cmdenny wrote:Premature stoppage? Lopez had enough senses to make sure to spit out gumshield? Perhaps a humane decision, the guy had got his pay cheque? Interested in everyones opinion.
Lopez maybe coulda got his gumshield back in and taken a few more - but what's the point ? He coulda got seriously damaged.

Re: Round-By-Round - Gavin McDonnell vs. Rey Vargas - February 25th 2017
Spelman didn't look in shape. He wasn't slipping well, his timing was off, but he got the job done.
Re: Round-By-Round - Gavin McDonnell vs. Rey Vargas - February 25th 2017
Now THAT was a premature stoppagePokerRob wrote:Awful stoppage that!

Agree, waited until the replay to decide, but yes, was weakPokerRob wrote:Awful stoppage that!
Re: Round-By-Round - Gavin McDonnell vs. Rey Vargas - February 25th 2017
to be fair to the ref king took about 7 or 8 big shots and only started to throw once the ref was just jumping in.
Re: Round-By-Round - Gavin McDonnell vs. Rey Vargas - February 25th 2017
My feeling was Spelman was about to land something serious, the ref prevented it.LancashireLoyal wrote:to be fair to the ref king took about 7 or 8 big shots and only started to throw once the ref was just jumping in.
It's the old dilemma, how finished does a boxer need to be to be stopped?

Re: Round-By-Round - Gavin McDonnell vs. Rey Vargas - February 25th 2017
Campbell found the range for the left hand straight away and tattoed Lopez time and again in the 1st. I thought the KD was a push though, cracking uppercut to end things too, Lopez wasn't up to much so I'm not reading too much into Luke's performance, the signs are good though regarding the Rubio link up
Belter of a right hand from Coyle to stop Noble as well, Noble's technique was poor, just arm punches like punching through treacle and also leaving himself wide open , no strength whatsoever either, not the best style for a bull like Coyle

Hasegawa vacated, which is why the title is vacant, Vargas is a guy who hs been bulldozing older smaller fighters in MexicoFrazier71 wrote:Who is Rey Vargas? And how does Hearn keep getting his fighters into vacant WBC bouts!

This might end early.

Vargas looks sharp. He's making McDonnel use a lot of nervous energy in the first. Vargas wins 1st.

McDonnell not looking too good so far.
