Another PPV pile of cash for Tony Bellew, think that's what he pushed for. It's been like a pantomime.Crease wrote:I tend to agree with your analysis. Yeah. When Bellew was asked why he sought the Haye fight he said it was because Haye was one of the best Cruiserweights of all time.cmdenny wrote:Another PPV pile of cash for Tony Bellew, think that's what he pushed for. It's been like a pantomime.
Still, I'll be buying the fight. It will be nice to see Haye put manners to Bellew.
And let's be honest, it would be nice to see Bellew being taken down a peg or two. And him getting blasted on the face a few times would certainly do that.

There’s no such thing as a sure thing in boxing (away from the Mayweather type level) and yes, I give Bellew a chance. I think it goes well into the second half, potentially. Bellew has sufficient power to buzz Haye as much as he likes, and even force a stoppage of his own. I’m not saying he will - I just am not ruling it out, like that lot ΛΛΛΛΛΛΛ.

My point is - no-one is completely ruling out a Bellew win. But it is extremely unlikely, and this is reflected in the bookmakers' odds. Simply saying "there's no such thing as a sure thing" adds nothing to the debate at all; a child who'd never even seen a boxing match could say the same.
Re: Is Haye Bellew a one-sided fight?
This is a hard fight for me to predict, although I've voted for Bellew to do it.
Haye is SHOT - he's gone. He hasn't had a serious fight for almost 5 years, he's changed his trainer, he's had a serious shoulder injury and he's now much heavier than his fight with Chisora. This fight for him means one thing - money - and I'm not criticising him for that, but when this is a fighters ONLY motivator , that becomes a problem. Obviously he'll still have the punch power for the first couple of rounds and if Bellew is stupid enough , and I don't think he is, and comes for a war, he'll get knocked out early.
I think Bellew will come out on the move and when Haye gets close he'll try to tie him up and frustrate him. If the fight reaches the halfway stage, Bellew will start to punish Haye and look for a 'corner' retirement by Haye citing an injured shoulder.
This is why my prediction's on shaky ground. Its not about Haye, its about Bellew. How does he approach the fight?
If I've got to choose my prediction is a Haye retirement between the 6th and 7th round.

Re: Is Haye Bellew a one-sided fight?
Bellew isnt a tough guy lol look at what he promised against Stevenson and was totally in his shell, produced one of the most embarassing performances away from home by a UK fighter and was totally and blown away.
Haye is around 2 stone heavier and hits alot harder, Bellew hasnt improved or fought anyone in a decent class since then and been buzzed in just about every fight. Haye has been hit by harder hitting opponents and not looked in the way Bellews been. Its a no lose for Bellew as he gets the payday, keeps some credability losing to the bigger man and moves back down to defends his title in another payday.
This is really just a way to get Haye back into the publics eye, build up the fight with Joshua and get them both a ppv payday...which the casuals will buy into the hype and fall for it again...thats the business folks.
But this is possibly a more 1 sided fight that Khan-Alvarez or Brook-GGG

Yes, your entire 'argument' is based on the fact that nothing is guaranteed in boxing. Terrific insight, well done.magwitch wrote:What are you on about children for now? To be fair, people aren't really analysing the fight. I've only read a handful of posts where people actually break down what might happen in the fight technically. It's no secret that Bellew is a very disliked figure on these forums. He's a complete tosser, no question about it, and I'd like to see him starched myself. I think myself that if he comes to pull the second instalment of the McKenzie masterclass, which I'm 100% certain he will, he's not going to be easy to beat.
You've got people here who think Bellew is coming out swinging. No chance. He's terrified of Haye's power like he was of Ovils.
Re: Is Haye Bellew a one-sided fight?
Ovill is very crude, and much slower and less accurate than Haye. Totally different levels.....

It's possible his shoulder will go, but he's not shot. He's only 34 for god's sake, that's pretty much prime for heavyweights these days.
Re: Is Haye Bellew a one-sided fight?
This is a cynical piece of matchmaking sold purely on Bellew's ability to talk. To be fair to Haye he's not trying to dress it up as anything that it isn't, effectively it's another tune up for him against a pretty limited guy making his debut at Heavyweight.
Bellew's eyes were rolling after Stevenson clocked him, only the ref in that fight saved him from getting really hurt. After some fencing for a couple of minutes I think it will be near the end of the first round that Haye tags him, Bellew goes back to his corner on unsteady legs then gets blasted out in round 2.
Haye then is in line for a title shot without having fought a live body in 4 years and Bellew tells us that he wasn't a heavyweight anyway and goes back to Cruiserweight, both make plenty of money and the fans spend another £16.95 on a mismatched main event. Happy days.

He was pencil thin at 175 & he does look a little softer now at CW, but he doesn't look like he's carrying too much podge.

light heavy- hardly lean is he? Could easily have made super middle and shaved 7lbs of fat from his frame.

That's him at cruiser- not a bit of definition on his body- all he has added is useless flan pure and simple.

I must admit that at now 36 and inactive I keep wondering just how sharp Haye is these days. It's his speed and accuracy that made him dangerous and if this has diminished significantly then I give Bellew a decent chance - I'll have lost quite a bit at the bookies though if he does pull it off.dalcumly wrote:This is a hard fight for me to predict, although I've voted for Bellew to do it.

Now boxing isn't body building. You can't telll anything about fitness from someone's physique but you can tell what there lean body mass is and how much fat they are carrying. Bellew is carrying masses of the stuff compared to Haye and it is all useless weight.
This is a fight between someone who is a proper heavyweight and someone who is a light heavyweight with a couple of stone of uselsss dead weight hanging on them.
