Harley Benn and Naylor Ball

The Boy Jones result seemed a bit of a shocker. Anyone see the fight?

Just watched it now, what a bloody tear up that was! Cracking fight. Jones showed some balls in defeat.

I thought he did really well for his first fight - especially under that much pressure.
Even with the muscle he will put on with proper training, he still has half a stone to drop.

I hate to criticise a young kid, but the hole thing is just pretty off.
He doesn't seem to have any real natural ability, infact judging from his training videos he looks pretty terrible.
No amateur experience either, it's almost seems to have just decided that he wants to be a boxer since His brother Connor made his debut. I wouldn't normally comment on this type of thing, as I don't know the background (other then all that Twitter stuff recently) but he and his mother seem very eager to attack his dad at every opportunity, but at the same time he changed his second name to Benn, and comes out wearing Nigel's signature black shorts. He should be intelligent enough to realise the only reason he was on TV last night, and we are talking about him on here is because of his father, so IMO he shouldn't be so quick to keep bashing him as I find it a little off putting personally.

Putting that aside, he is fighting at to high a weight that's pretty clear. He needs to be down at little middle, maybe even welterweight. I will watch with interest, and wish him all the best.

FFS, do you know the history between him and his father? He's every right to bash him, Nigel did absolutely bugger all to deserve any respect from his son, aside from empty his nut sack.

Do you know the actual full details from being told by somebody actually involved or something? Fair enough if you do mate

Look Nigel smashed a poll dancer, got her pregnant and ran- big deal, it happens all the time. The only point I was trying to make was that, maybe Harley should just keep quiet about his dad on tv/Twitter instead of giving it all the I'm not doing it for him stuff, blah blah blah- yet he's decided to become a boxer, he's changed his 2nd name from Andrews to Benn, He comes out (like Connor) wearing Nigel's black shorts...etc doesn't that come off abit odd?

Personally, I think deep down like most sons they would kill to have their fathers on board - I would hazard a guess it's his mother (who seems to like the attention judging from the other night and selling her story in the papers yrs ago) that's advising him.

I think im going to agree with what hitman has to say here. If Harley was called Andrews and has just changed his name to put him in the spotlight its a bit odd. If they have both, mother and son been slagging Nigel off again its a bit bizarre he wants to start to morph into his dad.

Saying that it could well be his promoter has instructed all this change as part of a promotion deal to sell tickets and make a bit of cash. Maybe Harley isnt the real deal and know this but this is a chance of him making a bit of cash before the cash cow runs out.

Yeh, im going to say I would imagine that part of the promo is him changing his name, wearing black just to milk the fact.

I think he's entitled to use his father's name to make a living, given than Nigel did absolutely bugger all to support him, I think it's entirely fair.

Changing the name and wearing his shorts etc is all about making a few quid. No name change, or link to Nigel Benn and Harley, like Conor is at best, in an amateur gym waiting to get carded. I don't see any real obvious talent in either. Good luck to them both though It's a tough sport and fair play to them for having a go, even if they get opportunities better lads won't ever have, it's not their fault, they are just playing the hand they are dealt.
