Gotte respect Manny

Post by Jip »

guy is 38 and has around 200 m on his bank account and keeps fighting good opponents, a young jessie vargas and now arguably the boxer with the fastest hands in boxing. i mean, i would prefer pac against thurman or spence. but khan is good for me, styliscly it will be a great fight, cause both are fast, both punch a lot, amir goes forward, pushes the action, it just scream an exiting fight with a ko ending of khan. like i said, in terms of record pac the #1 of this decade. keeps boxing quality.

If Manny stops him, it will be his first KO win for 13 fights and over seven years. People go on about his power, but he's not a great finisher and his punching power at welterweight is overrated. He should have enough to stop Khan, but at 38, I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't. He should win, regardless.

I'm not arguing that he doesn't have great power in a p4p sense - he clearly does. The fact that he stopped guys like De La Hoya, Hatton and Cotto after starting as a flyweight is simply ridiculous. I just don't rate him as a welterweight puncher at the moment and his recent record reflects that.

very true, in ww terms he is a okay puncher, but far far from being bailey or tito

I would really like to see Manny get the winner of Garcia and Thurman. Give Manny one last huge fight before he calls it quits. If Manny beats the winner there then you have to say it's one of the greatest careers in boxing history.

would you give him a chance against danny or keith?

i expect manny to tko amir, but them 2 guys are a different story. danny is patient and got a powerful hook and thurman is tech underrated and elite power. tough match ups for a 38 year old, but i totaly aggree, let pac go out of boxing with a big bang, thurman or garcia, win or lose doesnt matter, this one for the fans!

I think Manny would give either guy one heck of a fight. Manny may get clipped and knocked down or out by both of them but if not, Manny would be tough to beat on the cards because he'll outwork both of those guys round by round still to this day. I give Manny a great chance of winning either fight and may even be favored going in.

you know what, what is the big turning point. at the end i figure out it comes down to 2 styles and i feel 1 style will end up with pac getting tkod and style number 2 will end up having pac as the ud winner against both.

style 1, pacquiao trades shots like he did against margarito and gets careless pushing the action. d and t are to young, to strong, primed up, they would land and finish em.

style 2, pac does exactly what he did against oscar and stays 12 rds with the same gameplan. dont get careless, dont lose to much energy firing 300 shots a rounds, just be patient, wait for quick counters, move a lot, quick inside/punch/quick outside, basicly just take your time and dont rush for anything. pac still has phenomenal foot speed and footwork and when he comes in tiptop shape danny and thurman cant touch him. maybe they would even be frustrated and rush for attacks and be wide open for a 'hatton kind of hook. pac is no big puncher at ww, true, but yet still you dont want to get clicked by him on the chin.

Outwork? Have you seen Manny's recent punch output - his handspeed is still good and he can flurry, but he takes breaks in every round and his overall punch output has dropped significantly:

vs Vargas 408 punches thrown
vs Bradley III 439 punches thrown
vs Mayweather 429 punches thrown
vs Algieri 669 punches thrown
vs Bradley II 563 punches thrown
vs Rios 790 punches thrown
vs Bradley I 751 punches thrown
vs Marquez III 578 punches thrown
vs Mosley 727 punches thrown
vs Margarito 1069 punches thrown
vs Clottey 1231 punches thown
vs Cotto 780 punches thrown

If lamont Peterson can outbox Garcia, manny certainly can.
