Sergio ducked ggg too.
Re: Best Chance of an Upset
So do I, I was a big Martinez fan, he was probably my favourite fighter before he retired. The question was purely because I was interested in the size of the pair of them to gauge how much of an advantage it would give Chavez over Canelo.clopixolacuphase wrote:Do you think Canelo would have beaten Pavlik? I personally rate Martinez much higher than Canelo but then I'm not a Canelo fan. Apart from fighting Lara and draining himself for Floyd the guy's shown himself to be a ducker and a cherry picker and you couldn't say that about Sergio.ElJefe wrote:164.5.clopixolacuphase wrote:What's the catchweight for Chavez again? If the guy actually gets serious and isn't drained I give him a good chance. He's HUGE. Canelo is used to fighting much smaller guys. The jnr that saw the 12th against Sergio Martinez I wouldn't have as a heavy underdog against the ginger midget. Depends how motivated he is.
I might stick a bet on jnr by stoppage if the odds are good.
Like other people have said, Khan and Wlad aren't really serious underdogs. Those are competitive fights.
Interesting point about the Martinez fight actually, Martinez was never really seen as a "big" middleweight. Completely different fighters of course but I wonder how he compares to Canelo in terms of walk around weight, re-hydration weight, physical strength etc.
On question, I expect Canelo walks around heavier than Martinez did and is probably heavier in the ring. I think Sergio probably punched harder, just based on his decapitation of Williams and the fighters he put on the canvas. He fought big guys and hurt them. Canelo has always had significant size advantage from what I know.

Oh true say, but that was when he was at the end and his knees were gone. Look at what little Cotto did to him and then imagine what GGG would have done. I'm going to give him a pass for that one.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Sergio ducked ggg too.

Cotto was easy money.clopixolacuphase wrote:Oh true say, but that was when he was at the end and his knees were gone. Look at what little Cotto did to him and then imagine what GGG would have done. I'm going to give him a pass for that one.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Sergio ducked ggg too.

Jacobs is trouble the moment Golovkin starts landing his right hand, it will be a big upset if Jacobs win, biggest in some time.

To me, Klit number 1. Number 2 because of the height and weight Chavez Jnr.
Re: Best Chance of an Upset
Khan beating Pacquiao seems like the strongest possibility to me.

Re: Best Chance of an Upset
I'd give Jacobs a chance against GGG. It's the best opponent GGG has faced and on paper you could argue the best win either has is the Quinlan win.
GGG is easy to hit and Jacobs can bang.
The only problem (it's a problem of gigantuan proportions) is I worry about Jacobs chin.
Good fight though and if you rate Canelo in the LMW division or SM division it leaves GGG and Jacobs as the division #1 and #2.
The question is can Jacobs chin hold up (I think not, but thought I'd play devils advocate).
