Lemieux vs Stevens

Post by diddy »

Anyone got anything but a Lemiuex KO here? Lemieux can take a helluva shot. If GGG couldn't knock him out I doubt Stevens can. It was a mercy corner stoppage against GGG. Stevens won't hit him nearly as many times or pressure him the same way. Think this is a perfect style fight for Lemiuex against a guy who isn't long and rangy and wont make him chase them. Stevens will stand right in front of him and that's a bad idea.

Stevens' power is enough to stop Lemieux. What will be an obstacle is his lack of skill. I'll still give him 20% puncher's chance.

Lemiuex has turned himself into a good fighter since he's improved his cardio. He's obviously not going to beat GGG but I'd pick him against most people at 160 right now. I wouldn't take him against Jermall, Canelo, Jacobs or Lara tho. Everyone else - yes. You need to be elite to beat him right now.

Stevens is a guy who often has moments early, but after the first few rounds notably slows and goes into a shell. Unless he does something major near the start of the bout, I think he'll probably cover up and get grinded down by Lemieux's more consistent attack.

The biggest danger for Lemieux is one of those counter left hooks; I think he's more likely to get overconfident and be caught by surprise in the middle of an attack than he was against GGG.

So, I think Lemieux is a clear favourite, but I'm not confident enough in him that I'd make it pretty much a foregone conclusion.

Ggg fought pretty measured, I wouldn't be surprised if Stevens stopped him early. They both lack great stamina so I wouldn't be surprised if the first half is war and then it slowed to a crawl and went the distance.

This is an interesting fight. Wouldn't be surprised seeing either one of these guys score a ko. David is going to have to be a lot more careful than he is with most of his opponents. So, I doubt he will be pressuring as much with Stevens. I'm expecting a more measured fight from David.

Another great fight that i'm excited about. I am a Lemieux fan and I don't think that he's gotten his jest due. He's been pretty darn ferocious the last 5 years and though outclassed and outpowered by GGG, he should get credit for stepping up and taking that fight when he did. His star was shining back then and he could have taken the Canelo route and made money fighting lesser but he risked it with GGG and now he's paying for it. A win against a quality fighter like Stevens will help him get back there.

Not a given though because Stevens is looking really good with his new team. It's going to be a battle and I just hope the winner gets the respect they should and a title shot.

:TU: like a middleweight Berto-Ortiz. Earlyish stoppage either way or Stevens on points

Good little fight this, Lemieux will be favourite, but relatively evenly matched and styles should gel nicely.

think this will be a tear up both fighters down, going lemieux ko, but stevens is a banger, how fighters like eubanks jr,bjs haven't faced them, or lee ,is why the mw is getting a bad rep

I'm very much looking forward to this one as both are two of my current favorite fighters to watch. It should be an exciting fight based on their styles & if we're lucky it could result in a 160-pound version of last week's Breazeale-Igonoh thriller.
If I have to pick a winner then I'm going with Lemieux via an 8th round KO or TKO. With him likely having to survive a knockdown or rocky moment in the process.

Lemieux has no quit in him. He continues to improve and learn from his setbacks. Nice W. I look forward to his future fights.
