Sanchez doesn't decide who GGG faces and at which weight. GGG would take on Ward at 168 instead of Adama, Rubio or Monroe, but the only time Ward "wanted" a fight was when Golovkin just signed for a unification fight. The only reason 164 was ever mentioned was for negotiating purposed. Ward wanted to come from obscurity and get 50% of a purse, so GGG Team wanted to move him playing the weight card.
There was never a second that ward talked to ggg and his team in good faith about a fight.
There's a video on YouTube of Tom Loeffler, whereby he confirms that Andre Ward had emailed him an offer to face Golovkin with a 50-50 purse split and also agreeing to a 164lbs catch-weight stipulation, but the K2 boss turned it down, because he said the day or so prior, the Lemieux PPV fight had already been confirmed.

In my opinion, at that very early stage, HBO may have preferred to drop the GGG-Lemieux fight in preference to GGG-Ward, but hey... what do I know?

Loeffler confirmed the 164lbs catch-weight stipulation in writing to Dan Rafael (ESPN) and Dougie Fischer (Ring TV), but officially, in terms of a "negotiation table", technically-speaking formal Golovkin-Ward contractual never took place, but Ward did attempt negotiations.

Simply put: Ward asked for the fight, Loeffler turned it down, but his reasons were due to prior commitments.

That said, despite claiming to be the A-side, in the very same video, Tom Loeffler conceded that they never made any effort whatsoever to negotiate a fight between GGG and Ward.

Do you want me to post the video? It'll be the third time I've posted it.

A sane person wouldn't want to negotiate with Ward.

He just used golovkins growing fame to keep his name in blogs during his semi-retirement. Christ, HBO had to strong arm ward into fighting Edwin Rodriguez. No way he would fight ggg off a long layoff.

Even if he did, he would have made negotiations extremely unpleasant, like this:

Who would want to negotiate with this POS ?

So just like how Canelo should get most of the money when they fight? Or is that different because it's one rule for GGG another for WIlder. or Ward, or Canelo, Or Mayweather, or anyone else.

at the end i hope both ward and floyd stay out of boxing. not only are their fights super boring, but the way they disrespect fans is unbelievable. making trillions demands, waiting years, wanting to cash out against an opponent with 0 boxing record, not respecting the rematch clause, being arrogant. always downsizing other top boxers, just because they arent friends with them. not having robinson in his atg top 5. i just dislike those 2 guys. they bad for boxing.

Mayweather vs Golovkin would outsell May-Pac. The reason Mayweather was selling so many PPVs was people wanting to see him beaten. A chance of that would be higher than ever with Golovkin as an opponent, so fans would pay.
