What a cracking match up. This one has the potential to be a proper war.

Valdez is 21(19)-0 while Marriaga is 25(21)-1 with the lone blemish being a UD against Nicholas Walters when Walters came in overweight (I think).

If I was still living in Cali I'd be all over this one. Hope it's on Showtime.

Looks decent opponent. He issue is all the decent figs at featherweight are with Haymon.

I still think Valdez is massively overhyped by a lot of people. That guy he best for the belt was absolutely dire.

I see this being Valdez coming out party.

Marriaga is decent but I see Valdez stopping him. I rate Valdez highly.

I think he's got a lot of talent, but he's largely fought crap and Top Rank seem to be protecting him a bit.

Rueda is a very limited fighter who has built his record on poor opposition in Argentina (which he often struggles against), and Gradovich was well past it. Marriaga is a solid fighter and will be his best opponent, but the Colombian is still a ways below the top of the division.

I don't know a great deal about his opposition, he is young and likely been easily matched so far but I really like the look of Valdez, he's got a lot going for him and certainly looks the part.

The big test will of course comes when he steps up to proper world class but for me he's in the mix in an interesting division
