Whatever he is, I'm on board.
Re: Keith Thurman ... Hipster
Thurman is like a more mellow David Haye in that he's a tough guy, but he doesn't make that a priority... Boxing isn't his life and he gets involved with a lot of different things.. He's cool and will talk to strangers.. A lot of boxers are totally self centered, egotistic as Hell, and not real approachable.
Carmen Basilio was about as basic a blue collar guy as you can get and Sugar Ray Robinson was supposed to be a hipster in his day. The lime green slacks, the Flamingo colored Caddilac, the straightened hair. His trunks and shoes had to fit and look just so, and his shoe laces had to be tied just so.. He wanted beautiful bitches to accompany him and always tried to project a glamorous image of a super successful and important celebrity.. He took voice coaching and tried to be a song and dance man and an actor, but he didn't have it.. He had it for the ring for sure.. Basilio walked up to SRR and introduced himself, and got the brushoff. Basilio thought Robinson was the biggest phony in the world, and made it his mission to kick his ass.
For some reason Thurman hits Angel Garcia the wrong way, as most of Danny's opponents do, but more than any other opponent... There's some serious culture clash issues going on between these 2.. Danny is supportive of his dad and he wants to lay Thurman out -- and Thurman wants to lay Danny out badly.

He's a bit different, punches like a mf though.

Yes Thurman and Moore are eerily similar. Powerful, but crafty. Cerebral, a little eccentric. Student of the game and aware of its history and intricacies. Thurman is on the verge of becoming a legend. Stays disciplined and in shape between fights and isnt afraid to take on all comers. Can slug it out or box.
Hed probably make a great trainer too. Him and paulie are two of the most knowledgeable active fighters right now.

Thurman and Garcia in two days. Can't wait. I think we'll have a much better idea where Thurman and Garcia stand historically after this fight. We'll be able to match them up with some of the greats a little better after what I think will be the best fight boxing has put together in many years. I don't think that this fight and these fighters are getting their due for putting it up and meeting like this. There's NO way this fight disappoints, not with each guys style.
Styles make fights...cliche, yes. But how true in this one. Thurman and Garcia refuse to lose exchanges and both hang in there too long as a result so there will be some moments in this fight that will keep everyone holding their breath as we wait to see which bomb in these exchanges lands the best. This is one of those fights where NO ONE knows who will win. It all comes down to how deep each guy wants to go and how much damage they are willing to take. My heart is telling me that Garcia has a bigger basement for pain and misery but Thurman has never disappointed me in the heart department either.
Either way, it's going to be a classic and I'm already hoping for a rematch and the fight hasn't even taken place yet.
