One fans day at the #hayebellew weigh in

Post by tobyh5 »

Spent the day as a fan boy at the weigh in and went as a big Haye fan / Bellew hater and left as the reverse. Haye was stand offish and only spoke to the fans when Sky cameras were on him. Bellew was nearly the last man there as he chatted to everyone, gave autographs, pictures, relaxed and made all fans feel important.

I could not find any boxing people with a good word for Haye and that includes notable south London figures I would assume would be pro Haye

Other things of note is Dillian Whyte is very cool, came and chatted for ages and even took my phone when it rang and started chatting to my mate. Clifton Mitchell was very chatty and nice, Coldwell was sound, George Groves quiet and well spoken, Spencer Fearon was also cool and Johnny Nelson spent time chatting.

Sadly though, Haye will win easily. I always felt that but Bellew was so small. His hands are smaller than mine and mine are child like. His stature, arms, shoulders and whole frame felt narrow. Not a heavyweight at all.

Shame, I left as a big fan which is such a change

I take it you're away to the fight tomorrow Toby? I've heard a few different people saying Haye was a bit of a tosser so no surprises there.

Don't take it personally, Hayes on a mission and being professional focusing on one thing which is fight night. Bellew knows he's not going to win and is just enjoying the limelight with the fans while he can. Imagine knowing your going to get ktfo inside a round for a few million quid I'd be shaking fans hands as well tbf.

Yeah and looking forward to it. Bit of a casuals event but I do like the atmosphere they put on. I despise matchroom in so many ways but they do put on a great event

So basically, Toby, you've found what virtually everyone who's ever met him has been saying for years?

Totally agree with this assessment. And anyway, who cares how Haye is with his fans. Did Tyson or Hagler regularly hang around chatting and posing for fan photos after a weigh-in?

Yeah he's always seemed like he didn't give a shite about fans. Arrogant too. He'll smash bellew to bits though.

You say that but I messaged him to see if he would write a message on one of his fight posters I was getting and he said no problem and said to email his pa and they would sort it for me.

Doesn't Haye always get moody in the days before a fight anyway? He doesn't seem to like those 'within' the business, so maybe that's why managers and promoters etc don't seem to like him.

That or he can be a dickhead!

My time meeting him was quite pleasant. Though I'm sure his mood is better in a nightclub than at a weigh in with a guy he hates.

Trump's meeting with him would be fabulous because they would get along great.

I've met David many times, and he's always chatty and fun, but I think he just picks his audiences and I'd expect a fighter to be grumpy at a weigh in.

I last saw him at the AJ v Martín fight, I was being hosted, and had nice seats. He came over to me at the drinks reception beforehand, said hello, and chatted to the folks I was with for ages.

I don't particularly support specific boxers, but I do like boxing. How is David Haye "backwards"? You may not like him, but your post is nonsense.

Conned the fans , pulled out of fury fight for no reason , deluded , probably would pull out of major fights again , lost loads of money like a backwards individual, seriously tried to get people believing a fight with a YouTube trained man was a worthy fight, that's also backwards,

Post isn't really nonsense it's just one mans opinion on something, generally what happens on forums :TU:

Fair enough Oiky, we are all entitled to our opinions, I'm certainly not an internet warrior.

Enjoy the fight tonight.

He said to Ifl yesterday he was starving at the weigh in, and that he likes to literally fight hungry, and he doesn't have sex before a fight. So he was probably not in the best place to be dealing with fans and the like yesterday, though why should you expect anything off him anyway?
