You are seriously impossible to have a conversation with.
Re: The MW division is a wasteland
Because you have no argument for your viewpoint??? You're impossible guy -- if you're going to buy into rankings that don't make a lick of sense -- just to say the division is weak... 160 is one of the stronger divisions... Unless you're going to say ranked boxers shouldn't face each other and just pad their records like crazy.
1. Golovkin
2. Jacobs
3. Eubank

10. Brant
11. Lee
12. Quillin
13. Korobov
14. Langford
15. Arif Magomedov -- and no Ishe in sight so far.

They are both fighting their toughest opponent and whenever that's the case, it's great for boxing. We have a few of those fights planned so far this year so that's why i think 2017 is going to be the best boxing year in a long long long time. But you're right, the winner is #1 for sure. But instead of seeing the winner taking on Canelo, i'd like to see the winner fight Charlo. He's going to be strong at MW. Very tough.Jip wrote:caldo2025 wrote:I agree. This is a huge fight and could end up being a classic. I expect GGG to win but Jacobs is a different kind of matchup than we are used seeing for GGG. I don't care how good of a chin GGG's got, he can't take the kind of shots Brook landed in this one. Jacobs can bang so it will be interesting if he can chisel away at GGG's armor and make him human. It COULD happen.phillykid wrote:One of the reasons why i consider the GGG vs Jacobs fight the most important fight of the year so far, even more so than Garcia/Thurman, Klitschko/Joshua, or the possible Kovalev/Ward rematch, is because it's between the two legit best middleweights in the world.
The other divisions will still be a round robin of guys that can beat each other on any given day.
But if Jacobs can't do it, i don't see anyone else being able to pull off a win against Golovkin in that division.
also for the first time (except maybe lemieaux) GGG will have somebody infront of him as big as strong as closley equal a puncher as he is. they physicly equal. jacobs is even taller and more athletic than GGG. will be very interresting fight. whoever wins this one is the 100 % true #1 middleweight. this is the best middleweight boxing the second best middleweight in the world 1 vs 2

i agree with you , is mw now the new cruiserweight, in which i mean there is no money in it now, like cruiserweight before ,so they just wanted to jumped up to heavy ,so now mw fighters are going down to welter or just going up to supper .i blame poor promoters, as there is real talent in the division .iam looking forward to stevens v Lemieuxjujigatame wrote:Eubank and Geale moved up to SMW, Geale got KO'd in the process.
Quillin and Andy Lee have fallen off the face of the earth.
Cotto and Canelo both fled back to 154.
BJS and Lemieux didn't have a single significant fight between the both of them in all of 2016.
Ishe Smith is the #11 MW in the world now according to BoxRec. Good lawd.

Re: The MW division is a wasteland
You don't get it... Wooosh is not a valid argument.
The Middleweight Division has had more boxers getting TV exposure over the last couple years than any other division: Golovkin, Jacobs, Saunders, Eubank, Lemieux, Monroe, N'Dam, Stevens, Korobov, Brant, Quillin, Khurtsidze, Douglas, Wade, Doran, O’Sullivan, Guerrero, Mora and a lot more. Obviously Canelo’s future is in the Middleweight Division. He’s the biggest PPV star right now.
And I don’t have any ax to grind like you do. The Cruiserweights, Bantamweights and some other divisions ARE weak right now. They couldn’t do a PPV to save their lives -- but to say the Middleweight Division is weak right now is disingenuous and hater driven.
I recognize weak divisions when I see them... 160 had weak lineups a few times... Hagler never faced any killer Middleweights with terrific height, skill, speed, or boxing and punching ability. Hag fought once a year in ’85, ’86, and ’87... James Toney just happened to be Middleweight Champion in a period of tough Middleweights and fought Michael Nunn, Mike McCallum and Reggie Johnson in a period of 6 months.
160 has some dynamite matchups coming over the next couple years -- if the fights get made. We’ve been disappointed that some 160 fights didn’t get done.
