He got lucky, imo. He looked absolutely shocked.

I reckon he would have knocked Bellew out around 8-9 without the injury

Haye was starting to get his timing and as he proved could get into the later rounds (even with the injury)

Yet I was one of the only ones on here who said Bellew had a good chance in this fight.

I know far more about boxing than most people on here.

The Spurs - Everton game tomorrow is one to avoid. The people's champ will no doubt get paraded at some point.

No he wasn't, he wouldn't have been far off on points had he not been stopped and that was with one leg

I can understand that pov from the second round, but by the 4th /5th Bellew's success were becoming far less frequent.

It would still have been a surprise result to see Haye have to go to points, but I think he would have won fairly comfortably on the cards.

He was looking fresher as well - barely breathing between rounds.

Haye looked poor, but he was still winning and beginning to connect more in the 4th and 5th. Bellew was hardly doing anything, and I can't really see how it was turning in his favour prior to the injury.

I think Haye had a problem with his right arm as well, he was hardly throwing it and it looked noticeably skinnier than his left arm.

Add to that he couldn't fight for three minutes with Haye lent against the ropes doing nothing, how was he going to win this fight without the injury?

Who did I think would have the better chance of winning this fight early - Haye.

Who would have the better chance if it went late - Bellew.

So I crossed my fingers, stuck my money on Bomber and just wondering what to do with 80 quid :yay:

How was it caused? Haye swinging and missing?

Isn't that still part of the game?
Well it still counts.

If you win an Olympic Gold medal in the 100m because all 7 others pull their hamstrings halfway down that still counts as well, but it takes some of the gloss off.

There was no value in Haye bets. More bets would of gone on Bellew so they will have to pay out more.

He won't be welcome at WHL. It's not an Everton home game.

Agreed. Watching the 1st round, i was stunned at how wild & unbalanced David looked. An ankle injury would explain that perfectly.

Seems everyone was taken on this. They talked injury earlier in the week. Appears he had a tear going in. Obviously chose to go through with it, kind of like Pac v FMJ.

Its a shame Haye's bodys fragile, its been like that for a while now, some people are just like that in any sports, even when I played as a kid I always seemed to pick up injuries and sit on the sidelines, Haye's lifestyle makes it hard to believe him when he pulls out fights, the Vlad pull out years ago was questioned but you wonder why he would pull out after asking for it, I believed the shoulder saga with Fury, the Charr pull out was the most dubious i'd say, whatever way you look at it he's a liability to come into a fight fully fit

A lot of the people who slate him for fighting injured are the same folk who'd crucify him for pulling out injured, he did the absolute maximum his body would allow, although he wasn't nowhere near as good as he(or I) thought it would be early doors so his pre injury showing deserves criticism

But he was obviously injured going in. No way would everyone have been so convinced that he would end it early if they knew he was going in with a tear. That said, the signs were there if you were paying attention.

I have abused Bellew pretty badly in the build up to this fight. It looks like Haye was only in this for the money. He was crap, even before the leg went.

Did Bellew reveal a contrived fight when he said "I spoke with David 16 weeks ago and we have not really spoken since"

I know Bellew was a huge underdog going in but there's little to no glory in that win last night. Haye could barely stand and he still couldn't nail him down for 4 or 5 rounds. In fact you could maybe make a case for Haye sharing or winning the 8th or 9th.

Bellew looked decent in making Haye look wild in the first 3 rounds but other than that his performance was as bad as Haye's injury.
