Bellew knocked him clean out the ring in his own backyard, it was a beautiful sight. Haye's pre fight antics came back to haunt. He writ him off, many on here did, Bellew won, simple. Respect to the current world champion, that was a joy to behold.

It seems that Miami training camp worked a treat.

Come on Horse, he fought a one legged man for half the fight and still couldn't knock him out, it reminded me of his performance against a one armed Nathan Cleverly.
Don't get me wrong, I don't begrudge him his victory parade, or any subsequent paydays he gets off the back of last night, but his victory was more due to Hayes injury than his own boxing prowess, heart or 'powaa!'

What about all the big punches he took which were supposed to have ko'd him inside 1 or 2 rounds ?

I can't believe the nonsense on this thread. Haye got hammered from the 6th round onwards and was left lying outside the ring ropes. Utterly demolished - wiped out.
He was brave and took his punishment.
He was obviously injured and his inexperienced corner man should have taken responsibility and pulled him out between the 6th and 7th. He didn't do that, so everything that happens afterwards is simply part of the fight. So , he got hammered.

OK, he deserves credit for not getting knocked out in the first couple rounds.
But then, even big Audley avoided getting knocked out for a couple rounds against a much better version of Haye but he got, little credit for it.

Come on Audley froze that night and even Haye did very little so there were no punches to avoid in the first 2 rounds.

Because he had one leg!

This win is as relevant as Charles Martins over Glazkov or Chris Byrds over Vitali.

Had no interest in this circus from the off and the fight itself and result and subsequent fall out sums the whole charade up!

He had 2 legs up until the 6th and failed to badly hurt or ko Bellew despite all the experts claming he would get stopped in 1 or 2 rounds max.

Credit to tony bellew on the victory. Also to haye for being gracious in defeat and not mentioning his injury.
Personally I hope Tony Bellew goes back down to cruiserweight and concentrates on unification. He's not a heavyweight and has nothing to prove there. He said he really believed he could beat haye and did so, showing he's a warrior which great mental strength. I would hate to see him take a step to far against the big guys.
Well done tony

You believe he didn't have an injury going in to the fight? It's a bit of a coincidence that he flew to Germany days before the fight to see a doctor who specialises in leg injuries and then he "suddenly" injures his leg in the 6th?

I suspect he started with the injury and it got considerably worse during the fight.

He may have but it didn't show,he still landed big shots and Bellew took them all, despite all the experts giving him zero chance.

Possibly he did have an injury before. But bellew had a job to do and he got it done. He beat what was in front of him. During the fight i was thinking "it's only a matter of time" before haye gets him. But Haye didn't, and that's the way of it.

What big shots? Barely anything was landed in the whole fight from either fighter. Now I'm hearing Bellew apparently broke his hand. Have landed about 3 grazing shots while Bellew was moving away; nothing flush.

Spot on.

It seems ok to call out a boxer for being chinny but when somebodies resolve is displayed at the highest level at it was last night by David Haye, rather than a round of applause, the target for negative comment becomes Tony Bellew for failing to finish!

Jesus....if you're an example if what Boxrec is about now, its embaressing. At least try to have a sense of balance in your analysis, not just a one sided load of clap trap. It does you a diservice.

He landed some decent counter punches, really got my attention.

Tbf the quality i watched on youthbe when i got in was a bit off. I much prefer agression & controlling the centre over a runnin landing a couple flashy counters.

This enough to convince me that this boxrec forum has gone down the nick lol. What you have written is complete and utter garbage and done because you can't get around an obvious bias for Bellew. This isn't a debating site for boxing anymore, its seems its a page for fan boys, who takes sides with fighters and are blinded by that loyalty. Quite pathetic really lol

It's worth pointing out that Haye was knackered and at one point staggered drunkenly around the ring. He looked spent for several rounds. You can't blame the result purely on his injury. There was the matter of fitness. 36 and with a couple of can jobs in 6 years. He wasn't prepared for a Bellew that could withstand the first volleys of big punches and prolong the fight. A lot of you sound as if you're in denial.

He's earned well from his fights, sponsorship and TV, and I'd genuinely be shocked if he's burnt through it all. Though if he has, I wouldn't include him in the ranks of fighters who need or deserve support post-career.
It's been the Underlying tone of Hearn and Bellew's comments for weeks prior to the fight, spinning the fight that Haye isn't in it for the glory and adulation, where as Bellew is (every one knows it's a cash grab)
And if the rhetoric was true then he would have needed support mentally, something to focus himself on, rather than strip clubs as the Bellew rhetoric claimed

Just a thought for those who haven't a clue about boxing.
When a heavyweight retreats to the ropes and leans back as far as he can with his hands up, as Ali did against Foreman , for example, it becomes very difficult for even the huge punchers to knock them out. Haye knew this, he kept his eyes on Bellew, and his counters ready just in case, but Tyson at his absolute peak couldn't have knocked Haye clean out.
So, please stop criticising Bellew for not being able to knock out a one legged fighter. When you have to lean over to land you just can't get a clean shot.
