I was rooting for Haye by decapitation but Bellew proved that is on a mission and that Makabu win wasn't a fluke. Many would say Makabu and Haye were innactive fighters with ring rust but a win is a win, not to mention when it's by T/K.O.
Re: Congrats to Bellew, he added a good scalp to his resume! 'I want you next boy(Wilder)!'
Well done to him, and I get why he wants a quick payday at heavy, but I hope he goes back to focussing on Cruiser. He clearly wasn't a heavyweight.

Haye showed a lot of heart by fighting with basically one good leg and he endured that agony. In the ring-post-fight interview he praised Bellew as the better man and he didn't complain about the injury

I can't stand Bellew, but it say's it all that he has a better win at heavyweight than Wilder and Joshuas records combined

Whenever Deontay Wilder competes in his hometown state of Alabama, he typically receives a $1.5m payday.
In order to travel to Russia, Wilder agreed to accept a $4.5m payday, with the contract also containing a $715K win bonus.
Tony Bellew was paid about $3.43m to face David Haye in a non-title fight, with the Hayemaker receiving a $5.15m payday, with both fighters having previously headlined multiple PPV’s in the UK.
Therefore, I don’t know how Matchroom and/or Sky would be able to financially justify bringing Deontay Wilder across to the UK to defend his WBC world heavyweight title against Tony Bellew, considering the American is relatively unknown on British shores.
It’s not as if the loss-making investment is worthwhile for Matchroom and/or Sky, due to potential long-term rewards gained from promoting the Liverpudlian, because Tony Bellew intends to retire imminently… and he’d also be a massive underdog in that fight.
Then again, Eddie Hearn might think that it may be worth making a small loss on a potential Wilder-Bellew PPV, if it grants the American exposure to the UK audience in order to help sell an eventual 90K Wembley Stadium-filling mega-PPV event involving Anthony Joshua.

No matter what Wilder's previous opposition was he would KO Tony Bellow easily..
Re: Congrats to Bellew, he added a good scalp to his resume! 'I want you next boy(Wilder)!'
Bellew beat a man with one leg. Did you watch a different fight?
Bellew is not even a top 50 heavyweight. He has only just a cruiserweight.
Haye looked bad from the start and after 5 rounds was inplay 8-1 on with bookies until the injury.
I am afraid it was a case of two donkeys making a derby.

Maybe because it wasn't a win against a healthy opponent?Stuarty30 wrote:davie wrote:I can't stand Bellew, but it say's it all that he has a better win at heavyweight than Wilder and Joshuas records combinedTrue! Didn't think of it like that!

He deserves credit and I hope he enjoys his win.

Bellow does deserve credit. I saw highlights of the fight on you tube. It appeared Haye suffered his injury in the six round when Bellow was pounding him with punches.Stuarty30 wrote:Wins a win cuzboxing_rocks wrote:Maybe because it wasn't a win against a healthy opponent?Stuarty30 wrote:

He was written off by everyone as fodder (myself included). Injury aside Bellew aquitted himself well in the early stages and made Haye look ponderous at times.

Haye's leg very clearly gave out as he bounced back after throwing a combo. Bellew was still doing pretty much nothing but covering up at that point.
I caught this in real time and thought it would be evident to anyone watching. Great job Tony!! Obviously been getting lessons from Charles Martin.

Thanks for the Video.
Don't really see how fighting on a supposed snapped ruptured achilles tendon equates to bravery. More like stupidity.
Matter of fact if that's what did happen Haye wouldn't be able to walk let alone fight. So it's on him. Haye lost legitimately the way I see it.

Damn, that's utterly savage. People, including me have double standards saying that Haye showed big heart and didn't quit , bla, bla, bla but in this case he should've stopped to fight immediately! This 'bravery' may cost him his health.crusader wrote:Haye's leg very clearly gave out as he bounced back after throwing a combo. Bellew would certainly lose to a top cruiserweight like Usyk or a top heavyweight like Joshua.
That being said, his win over Haye was a good one.

He only went to Russia because WOB won purse bids, everyone knows Ryabinski bids daft amount. Like the Klit-Pov fight.. and it was either fight in Russia or vacate.Enlightened-One wrote:Whenever Deontay Wilder competes in his hometown state of Alabama, he typically receives a $1.5m payday.

40% of 7 million. I'm sure they both have overrides to make more off of ppv. They could make a wilder fight much cheaper.ClivePatrickLyons wrote:forcefraser wrote:That's because he wants a rematch and another 4 million bucksapollo creed wrote:Haye showed a lot of heart by fighting with basically one good leg and he endured that agony. Can we really count ourselves fortunate enough to have Wilder/Bellew in the wings right after Wilder/Stiverne II? What a great time to be a fan of HW boxing!

And why exactly Bellew's resume matter compared to Joshua's or Wilder's ? They will both smash him inside of 3 rounds.

He has a similar win to Charles Martin.

Just because the man suffered an ankle injury against you, doesn't make you the man.
