It is what it is , and What its not is some great spetacular win , it is'nt the David and Goliath fight that Matchroom wants everyone to think ,, Its a 6'3" guy who had his best days 6 years ago , who's come back too muscle bound with virtually no fights to get in shape , you can't count de mori has anything more than a bag workout .

He has come back and fought another 6'3" guy a bit lighter but in his prime and fighting regular ,, In the fight the big guy has been goig for it wound up by too much talk and the smaller guy run like buggerry ,, In fact about rnd 5 , i said to the people watching it with me ,, that ref should get hold of Bellew and tell him to start throwing punches ... Rnd 6 Big guy hurts a ankle , can't move can't even stand properly and the smaller guy goes for it see's his chance and has a go , end result big guy loses, because of an injury has opposed to the smaller guy winning because he's the better boxer ,,

Will there be a rematch doubt it , because nlind Freddy will see if there is , Haye will approach it different and will not be silly about trying to kill with one punch , and there lay all the problems , Hayes whole demeanor was wrong , he was'nt fluid , he was'nt fast , and his punches lost there spite , because the timing was'nt there , and why simple ,, he was WOUND UP AND LOOKING FOR A KO ,

i BELIEVE STRONGLY THAT IF hAYE HAS A CORNER MAN WHO COULD OF TOLD HIM TO STOP BEING A GOOSE , RELAX AND BOX HIS WAY IN , HE WOULD OF LANDED A LOT MORE, A LOT MORE OFTEN

I get the impression that a lot of 'hardcore boxing fans' are more than a little embarrassed that they called this one so badly.

That Haye is an injury prone, inactive, party boy should have been factored into your assessments. Fawning over his physique and tough talk swayed minds a million.

Injuries can affect the outcome of any one on one sport, tennis players regularly retire hurt and so their opponent wins which can mean world number 223 Sergei Whodafuk ends up with a win over Novak Djokovic; this is just the way of sport.

As for the casuals being interested in high profile bouts but apparently not knowing enough to be worthy does anyone seriously think that boxing (especially in U.K.) would be anywhere near the level it is without the money which this generates?

As for Haye - Bellew I went for Haye in the first. I actually quite like Bellew but thought there was enough of Haye left to demolish him; especially given Bellew's tendency to get dropped in the first...

I agree with the OP and I'm one of the few people that picked Bellew to win.

The lack of acknowledgement of the injury was a disgrace from Sky. You can't take the W away from him but Sky interviewers are trying t act like it ddint happen

I have been hearing that Haye wanted a way out, he was losing anyway, and that he wasn't really injured. That's the affect that the Sky Thought Police have had with their post match silence

I think it was all the "experts" here on boxrec, who all thought Haye would annihilate Bellew without breaking a sweat, that turned out to be wrong. Yeah Haye injured himself halfway through, but he wasn't dominating the fight at all.

Like Michael Gove said, we've had enough of experts!
Haye was injured BEFORE he entered the ring. He was dragging a flat back foot in a wider than usual stance from the opening bell. If he was fully fit and able to plant his feet he would have taken Bellew out and Bellew knows this. The fact is Haye's body has broken down and he cannot sustain a tough training camp. The questions I would be asking is how did he pass the medical to fight? And why did his camp not pull him out knowing he was carrying a serious injury?

The tabloids have recorded it as a "demolition job"......

The irritating casuals believe Bellew is better thanHaye

And Matchroom have the audacity to think he can take on Wilder!

Do these retarded casuals and journalist not realise David Haye was unable to move and therefore became a sitting duck? I agree this is not a recognised victory and I like most people are getting fed up of this pantomime drivel.

Did Bellew actually throw a punch? Why did it take him five rounds to get Haye out of there? He practically had a spastic gait walk in a professional boxing ring?

This fight has potentially ruined Haye's legacy!

THIS
He was injured from the start and clearly flat footed having trouble with his footwork. The Achilles just completely went in the 6th.
Thats maybe so but he was never going to bash out Bellew as we all thought. Even if he was fully fit I dont think it would have happened. Haye was simply rusty and lack of top class action.

So what your saying is you believe haye was fit as a fiddle before the 1st bell rang? Even though wen they came together in the 1st round his leg stiffened up,the saturday before he was on soccer am,kicked a football and limped away from it but you think he was 100% fit before the fight? Like the title says "deluded casuals"..... bellew was walking around the ring scared to throw a shot,he started to throw punches when under attack by haye knowing that he would be thought more of for trying to fight before getting k.oed. bellew had from round 6 till 11 hitting an injured haye who could hardky stand let alone fight, with every shot in the book and still couldnt get the job done. another thing bellew is a boxer not a cornerman or ref so crack on with ur fightin and if shane or the ref wanna stop it they will, dont tell them to do their job. Haye was taking all u had and was still bright eyed and bushy tailed

The commentary during the fight never stopped mentioning the injury once it happened. Haye was ridiculed before about using an injury excuse post fight so I can see why he didn't want to do it again.

Haye really is in a no-win position here. Fight, get injured, and he cons everyone by fighting injured. Not fight, claim he's injured, gets accused of not being injured and pulling out for reasons unknown.

Carpentier was very white with wide shoulders & a slim waist.

Dempsey was brown & muscley. He had a low forehead while Carpentier had a high forehead.

This was the source of great in-depth analysis over everything from the shape of the bodies, heads & arms to the colour of their skin.

Everyone from Presidents to Bellboys was interested in this fight. It drew a crowd of over 100,000.

Boxing has always had casuals. But I'd rather chat with a boxing casual than a boxing snob. I've been a fan since the early 70's & these blokes whinging because the sport is so popular that it attracts fans who don't follow every boxer is hilarious.

Be happy that boxing is on tv. Be happy that it's in the papers. I'm a Londoner living in the US & it's a dead sport here.
Great post. Basically, don't worry, be happy.

Because Bellew called him out weeks about that. It would have been the ultimate kop out, and Bellew would have dined on it for ages. Especially considering all the speeches Haye had made in the weeks leading up to the fight.

I suppose its like horse racing fans and grand national week !. Everyone becomes experts on going, distance and form ect. Real punters putting them down, then the bloody thing wins !!. I bet we do the same thing on here national week !!!. And some will call it right and suddenly become experts. (Blacklion at 25's).

It is what it is. Obviously the victory is tainted with Bellew beating an injured Haye, but considering Bellew was such a major underdog coming in the fact that it went his way at all is pretty astonishing. Luck was just on his side that night.

It's not the greatest victory but it gets him a Top 20 Heavyweight ranking and puts him in the conversation for big fights.

Wilder would wreck him though.

This.

I would love to see the build up between Bellew and Wilder. They're both pretty colourful characters. And in the ring I think we'd potentially get something similar to what we saw against Haye. Bellew would probably box, and Wilder would do what he usually does, swing wildly, go through the gears quickly, and win ugly. The only difference would be that Wilder is a much bigger unit, and a lot less likely to gas.

I can see Whyte and Bellew bumping into each other, and luckily a sky camera will be there to capture the BEEF beginning.

It's the model that works for them

Anthony Fowler was waxing lyrical about how this win made Bellew better than Conteh. I am not sure where to start with that, though I do feel that Fowler is a Matchroom spambot and had been for three years.

Penfold's plan of turning out fat fighters only came unstuck because Christian Hammer didn't suffer a freak injury.
