Regular press getting boxing wrong?

Twice I've heard Gareth A Davies talk of boxing 72 world titles - clearly unaware how many weight divisions there are or can't do multiplication.

Indian TV asking Vijender Singh if he's fighting Khan. Vijender didn't say no.

Stupid question though as the fight will never happen. (I know AK supposedly fought at MW)
Just playing the India-Pakistan card.

Khan has been asked about it too, and didn't say no either.

That reminds me of George Groves being asked if he fancied fighting Khan in the future live on sky sports.

I think remember this, from memory Groves was quite pleasant and pointed out the weight difference. How much better it would have been if he said yes, I want khan next, I think I'd crush him. I can see the headline now

one of the most cringeworthy moments of TV I can remember.

The Sky Sports guy thought he was so clever and in the know, and said something like "I'm going to throw some names at you as potential future opponents.... how about Amir Khan?"

Theres a writer up here called Jim Black and more than a few times ive seen him to refer to Barry McGuigan as the former "World Flyweight Champ"

As I said its more than once ive seen it so I'm starting to believe he thinks McGuigan held his title at Flyweight

That's probably the same guy that wrote piece a few weeks ago on Reece McFadden describing him as the cheeky chappy that everybody loved from the commonwealth games. He obviously got him mixed up with Charlie Flynn.

Probably the same guy. I think he's just a generic sports journo. I don't think he specialises in boxing. If he does then he should be strung up!

I enjoyed watching McFadden more than Flynn in the games. He seems to have went off the radar. Not been too impressed with Flynn so far in the pros. Hopefully there's more to come because he's a character.

He maybe is. He was getting all the attention from the Scottish press more so than the other Scottish boxers. It was clear from the commonwealth games that Taylor was the better boxer of the lot but the Scottish/Glesga press latched on to Flynn more due to his character. The Glesga press love patter. It sells.

The BBC just did a piece about a former female boxer from Hull showed her sparring in the ring with 'former wbc champion' Tommy Coyle.

The independent proclaimed Bernd Bonte to be Klitschko's trainer several times during the build up to the Fury fight.

The guardian did a piece recently about all the British world champions and changed Liam Smith to a super middleweight!

Any more poor reporting in the mainstream media about boxing you can think of?

I that's just journalism in general to be honest, you have people who know nothing about a subject expected to write about it. I doubt many papers or news papers have dedicated boxing writers these days.

I used to write a tax and accountancy column for a national magazine, yet I knew naff all about the subject. Baled out after a few issues as I knew I'd come a cropper at some point!

Sky Sports news presenter to George Groves after he beat Degale, the best thing was that he asked the question as if it was a really good question and Groves just sat there lost for words.
