Loeffler answers questions from Golovkin haters
From fightnews:
http://www.fightnews.com/Boxing/golovki ... t-2-397515
“Let’s see: since our first GGG haters interview two years ago, Gennady sold out Madison Square Garden, The Forum in Los Angeles, sold out O2 Arena in London and became the most dominant champ in the sport of boxing with 23 knockouts in the row. GGG became one of the most marketable stars in boxing, especially internationally, with his fights being shown in more than 100 countries worldwide. Gennady brought back the definition of true world champion. Not much to dislike, is it? Four of his former opponents, victims of GGG’s knockout power, were already headlining main events (Stevens-Lemieux) or will be soon (Murray-Rosado) on two continents… but I’m ready for the haters next round!” said Loeffler as fight week kicks off for the middleweight unification between Golovkin and WBA regular champ Danny Jacobs, live on Saturday from Madison Square Garden on HBO PPV.
“GGG’s ‘all the belts’ hashtag should be replaced with an ‘all the easy money’ hashtag. He could easily fight at 168, but doesn’t want real competition”
Tom Loeffler: His goal was always to unify the middleweight division. GGG said that from the beginning. Big fight at 168 or 154? Both Gennady and Abel (Sanchez) had said that they will entertain thought about these kinds of fights. Gennady is very close to unifying the division and, honestly – he should be commended for that! There’s no unified champion right now – outside Cecilia Braekhus, another K2 client – no male boxer who can say that he unified his division. It proves how difficult this is and for Gennady, trying to do that should be reason to celebrate him – not criticize. Unifying means fighting the best – the other champions.
“Fighting Brook was what Loeffler is all about – money. When will you announce that you want to fight Conor McGregor?!!!”
Funny. Very funny. How we got Brook was a much-publicized affair. Starting with the mandatory position for Canelo; then he vacated the title. Then we went to unify the division with Billy Joe Saunders… but he chose a different route. Then we scheduled a fight with Chris Eubank Jr, over in the UK, because Gennady has no problem to travel to someone else’s home country. We had this fight signed or at least agreed to until Eddie Hearn, who after a month of negotiations with Eubank jr, told me that he could not deliver him or Eubank wouldn’t sign the contract. It was Eddie Hearn’s suggestion to do the Kell Brook fight and I thought it was a tremendous solution to the situation we faced. We wasted so much time between Canelo, Saunders and Eubank Jr that Kell Brook was the only alternative to still fight on the September date. Eddie had the O2 Arena reserved, Sky TV was ready and HBO over here had the date reserved. I will give Kell Brook tremendous credit again – he showed more heart than the top middleweights.
I will not leave you without answering the McGregor “question”…
We all have a lot of respect for Conor McGregor, for what he achieved in the UFC. If he wants to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr, we wish him all the best. We already have seen that Floyd has no interest in fighting Gennady in boxing. He’s looking at Conor as a big commercial opportunity, knowing that he’s clearly the favorite in the boxing ring. Just like Conor would be in the octagon. If Conor fights Floyd and beats him… then it maybe is something worth talking about.
“What is all this talk about fighting Mayweather at 154? GGG not popular enough?”
GGG always said that he will make an exception for Floyd, who had two world titles and was considered the best 154 pound champion. You have to respect that. It didn’t bring any reaction or response from Floyd, so we didn’t pursue it.
“Loeffler should take the 10 million dollars offered by Canelo. If this fight doesn’t happen, it’s on Loeffler, not De La Hoya”
GGG is fighting a big fight with Jacobs on Saturday. Canelo has his own big fight coming in May. If both guys win, there’s something to talk about. We will make a deal which is fair to Gennady – in the biggest fight in boxing. Both fighters need to be compensated correctly. Let’s not forget that Gennady is ready to fight Canelo at any time, from the moment when Canelo called him into the ring.
“Hey, if both Loeffler and HBO really wanted Canelo vs. GGG, it would have already happened”
Really? If it would be up to us, it would already have happened before Canelo beat Cotto. Cotto was mandated to fight Gennady as well. It really started with Sergio Martinez. When Sergio was considered the best middleweight in the world and Gennady wanted to unify with Sergio… he decided to fight Cotto, who was a much smaller guy moving up the weight. And then Cotto preferred to fight Canelo – instead of Gennady. It’s all comes back to a basic premise: if GGG is supposed to be such an easy guy to beat, people would be lining up to fight him. They wouldn’t be running away. It clearly has something to do with the fact that he’s knocked out 23 guys in a row. People know that getting into the ring with Gennady, they will be in for a lot of punishment, not a 12 round boring decision. It’s called domination or in boxing – early stoppage.
“Golovkin needs Jacobs more than Jacobs needs him. Loeffler got lucky making a deal with an Al Haymon fighter.”
The WBA mandated that fight. It’s a tremendous matchup. Both guys have a lot to gain. Gennady can beat the clear #2 middleweight in the world, cements his position as best middleweight in the world. Danny Jacobs can, in one night, rocket to the top of the boxing world. Not just top of the middleweight division – to the top of the sport of boxing. He beats GGG, he takes all his titles and becomes The Man.
“Does anyone know Loeffler’s expectations for this PPV? Will the numbers be top secret again?
The last one wasn’t a secret. The last one generated 150,000 PPV buys. For Gennady to do that – his first PPV against Lemieux who had never been on PPV and really had not have that much US exposure – selling out Madison Square Garden and in the process adding an IBF title to his collection – makes that a hugely successful event. Now Danny Jacobs, with a bigger profile, and GGG increasing his profile since October 2015, plus Chocolatito Gonzalez, Andy Lee, Carlos Cuadras, Ryan Martin on the card proves that this is a terrific show as a whole event. Fans and the media reaction have proven that.
“Can’t wait for Danny to school GGG. Jacobs shouldn’t give him a rematch because Danny wasn’t treated right during contract negotiations”
Not true at all. I would definitely disagree that Danny was not treated right during negotiations. I was very fair on both sides; we worked a fair deal with Al Haymon. We are working very closely with his promoter – both Gennady and Danny are very engaged in marketing and promoting the fight because both have a lot at stake to make this as successful as possible. We give Al Haymon and Danny Jacobs a lot of credit for helping to put this fight together. Danny Jacobs will not only get the biggest payday of his career but also an opportunity to fight for all of Gennady’s titles. If the promotion goes the right way, GGG also will get the biggest payday of his career. A win-win situation. Many people think that Danny is the most difficult test for Gennady. Jacobs is physically much bigger than Gennady; he’s got great power and hand speed. According to many people, if anyone can beat GGG, Danny has the best chance. The world will be watching on March 18.

It's just all the stock responces to critisisms GGG gets, and they're mostly pretty terrible. TBH it's not like he's some expectionally bad example, far from it, it's just that people keep borderline deifying him for some reason.

Rather than trying to run out the clock for dull decision wins, he tries to KO his opponents. Most boxing fans prefer to see that.

Maybe you should have asked better questions. You are the hater speaking to Loeffler no?BitPlayer wrote:It's just all the stock responces to critisisms GGG gets, and they're mostly pretty terrible. Re: Loeffler answers questions from Golovkin haters
Good post Freedom2013, thank you.
I think GGG's team does need to compromise to make the Canelo fight happen, but I respect that they're not trying to do it before the Jacobs fight, which is arguably a more difficult fight for GGG. If a Saunders fight in June is doable, they should do that too, even if it means postponing the Canelo fight, because GGG wants to unify the belts and the WBO belt is the last missing piece. Even with all the belts, GGG would be the B-side, which is unfair, but by giving Canelo the lion's share, he would be setting himself up for big future paydays and could possibly become the biggest PPV attraction in the sport.
After that, I would really like to see GGG make a permanent move to 168lb, because I think he would be just as dominant in that division.

Re: Loeffler answers questions from Golovkin haters
Americans deified Ali and Robinson... They lost a lot of fights but for some reason they're excused from any losses or poor showings they had... If you ask who the best boxer Ali ever beat??? I guess it's Jimmy Young and a lot of people didn't think Ali won.. If you ask who the best boxer Robinson ever beat??? I guess it may be Randy Turpin who had losses and was knocked out before.. If you ask who the best boxer Golovkin ever beat??? It's Kell Brook who was 30-0 and beat Shawn Porter.. Carmin Basilio just happened to be a Welterweight Champion who wasn't a real good boxer, but who challenged Robinson and beat him... It wasn't that unusual for Robinson to lose a World Title Fight... It's hard to fight cream-puffs in World Title Fights.BitPlayer wrote:It's just all the stock responces to critisisms GGG gets, and they're mostly pretty terrible. Robinson was 3-3 in Middleweight Title Defenses with 2 KO wins... SRR was decked by Tommy Bell, Jake LaMotta, Artie Levine, and Rocky Graziano
Golovkin is 17-0 in Middleweight Title Defenses with 17 KO wins... GGG was never knocked down in 386 amateur and professional fights
Who is more deified???

Could've answered those questions themselves if they actually followed boxing and had some common sense.
Re: Loeffler answers questions from Golovkin haters
Nothing wrong with liking him for that. Like I said he's far from the worst going around, I just wish people would stop making ut he can do know wrong.Freedom2013 wrote:He brings excitement.BitPlayer wrote:It's just all the stock responces to critisisms GGG gets, and they're mostly pretty terrible. Re: Loeffler answers questions from Golovkin haters
Tom Loeffler is very media savvy, quite likeable and also articulate. He also seems far more sincere than other “car salesman” like promoters, such as the likes of Bob Arum, Eddie Hearn and also Oscar De La Hoya.
That being said, Loeffler’s explanation doesn’t adequately explain the reason why Team Golovkin have repeatedly claimed that they'd fight anyone between 154lbs and 175lbs, as he would "easily" compete at those weights, they then undermined this claim by doing the following…
Abel Sanchez would allow GGG to face Froch at 172lbs… GGG wanted Hopkins at 175lbs… GGG wants DeGale at 168lbs… GGG wanted Chavez Jr. at 168lbs… GGG wants Ramirez at 168lbs… but GGG was only willing to face Ward at 164lbs…
GGG was unwilling to face Cotto at 155lbs… GGG was unwilling to face Canelo at 155lbs… GGG was unwilling to face Brook at 157lbs… GGG is willing to face Mayweather Jr. at 154lbs… GGG is willing to face Manny Pacquiao at 154lbs…
GGG criticised Canelo for facing a welterweight at 155lbs, but Golovkin subsequently fought a 147lb-er at 160lbs.
GGG also criticises catch-weights, but there are several videos of his team saying that they would only take the Ward fight at 164lbs, despite being willing to face other fighters at heavier weights. Loeffler even sent written emails to Dougie Fischer and Dan Rafael to confirm this.
If Gennady was physically capable of fighting anyone between 154lbs and 175lbs, then he should have done so by now, as it would have provided more opportunities to strengthen his relatively weak resume (in the context of a lack of big names).
Despite the fact I’ve pointed out the inconsistent claims that Team GGG have made, I’m a big fan of Golovkin, but I wish his team would stop providing his haters with ammunition to undermine his legacy, because it’s nigh on impossible to defend the conflicting claims that they have made.
In my mind, Team GGG should denounce their previous claims and clearly state their intention to only compete at 160lbs from now on. They should also refrain from criticising other fighters’ for doing things that they would also consider doing. It’s important that their claims are consistent with their actions, because perpetuating myths for the sake of self-promotion will only provide haters with more opportunities to “hate”.
For those that are offended by the content of this post, please note that there is video evidence of Team GGG expressing these thoughts that can easily be viewed with minimal effort. So it’s not as if I’ve fabricated any lies.

Robinson is regarded as the most complete boxer we have yet seen for many reasons.
His record in the amateurs speaks for itself.
Virtually unbeatable at Welterweight.
Willing to fight anyone anywhere.
Good chin, knockout power in both hands.
His revolutionary balance and footwork inspired Ali.
Being charismatic and US home grown didn't hurt either.
If you favour movement you'll prefer Ali, if you go for power you may prefer Robinson.
Golovkin is getting there, but its never about the record alone (unless you're a purist or happen to be born after 2117). You have to personify the age. Both Robinson and Ali did that. Right now there is no one in boxing like that.
Like I said, Golovkin is getting there, but then so is Conor McGregor.
Canelo on the other hand is going backwards, but no one can see the future. We can only try to enjoy the journey.

Here you go. The f*cking moron with OCD is here. Stop lying. There have been no negotiations with Ward, as Ward never wanted to fight GGG and only a masochist would want to negotiate with the delusional diva. As there were no negotiations, "GGG was only willing to face Ward at 164lbs" is a lie.Enlightened-One wrote:Tom Loeffler is very media savvy, quite likeable and also articulate. Yes, Golovkin is willing to face a couple ATGs at 154, and he didn't want to fight for a MIDDLEWEIGHT title at 155. There is no contradiction here.
Shut your lying mouth and go away.

I’ve already supplied numerous videos of Team GGG confirming the claims that I have made, which you acknowledged… and we even discussed these matters in different threads. So it’s not as if I’ve made any new claims that I hadn’t already substantiated with evidence.boxing_rocks wrote:Here you go. The f*cking moron with OCD is here. Stop lying. As there were no negotiations, "GGG was only willing to face Ward at 164lbs" is a lie.Enlightened-One wrote:Tom Loeffler is very media savvy, quite likeable and also articulate.
Yes, Golovkin is willing to face a couple ATGs at 154, and he didn't want to fight for a MIDDLEWEIGHT title at 155. There is no contradiction here.
Shut your lying mouth and go away.
I never claimed that formal contract negotiations took place between Golovkin & Ward. So that is a strawman fallacy, where you’re trying to use a red herring to undermine me by arguing against a stance I do not hold. That being said, Tom Loeffler has already confirmed that Andre Ward did contact K2 about initiating contract negotiations. You have also watched videos of Loeffler, Sanchez & Golovkin discussing the 164lb catch-weight stipulation that they would require to face Ward. Dan Rafael and Dougie Fischer also received emailed confirmations of this from Loeffler himself... and you read their words when I posted them.
In terms of contradiction, do you honestly believe that Abel Sanchez has never contradicted his own claims about Golovkin? He’s part of Team GGG, which represents the true context of my sentiments.
It seems that you’re not actually challenging the accuracy of any of the facts I've listed - instead you are simply trying to defend the reason why they are true in order to trivialise them and portray Team GGG’s actions in a positive light. However, that doesn’t justify your accusations of me being a liar, since you know for certain that my claims are technically accurate, despite their reasons.

Re: Loeffler answers questions from Golovkin haters
Abel Sanchez is not deciding who Golovkin fights and at what weight. Besides, saying that Golovkin CAN BEAT anybody between 154 and 168 is absolutely not the same as saying that he SHALL FIGHT anybody at a weight they offer.
You provide real videos and quotes, but draw wrong conclusions. Deliberately or not, you are a f*cking liar.

OK, please list any of the points I've listed in this thread that cannot possibly be considered factually-correct?boxing_rocks wrote:Abel Sanchez is not deciding who Golovkin fights and at what weight. I’m not going to debate the reasons for these facts being part of reality, but I am willing to debate the fact that they exist.
In the context of my post, I am not really interested in reasons or justifications; instead I’m purely focussed on facts.
For instance, if I claim that "everybody dies", this is part of our objective truth of reality - it's an irrefutable fact, which means that no one can debate this. However, it can be argued that there are a variety of reasons why this is the case.

You are just mentally stiff. Debating with you is as "pleasant" as negotiating with Ward.

You’re not really motivating me to be pleasant and friendly whenever I communicate with you, due to the fact that you always initiate discussions with insults, such as calling me a "f*cking moron", accusing me of being "a liar" and also telling me to "go away".boxing_rocks wrote:You are just mentally stiff. If you’d try to be a little more cordial whenever you want to tell me something or even disagree about something I’ve said, then perhaps I’d be less “mentally stiff” and more “pleasant” in the tone of my responses.
Like any other human being, I don’t react well to needlessly hostile individuals.
Let’s put things into context, how often do I insult you on a personal level whenever we disagree about something?

I thought the answers were spot on. But, really... why even bother. Haters will always find something to bitch about. Had GGG went a different route, people would be bitching about G not unifying the MW division.
