Another awful prediction by myself. I couldn't pick my nose at the moment. Thank fukk I've not been betting! Good win for Lemieux :TU: Stevens might have to sit down and have a think about his future in the sport.

There was some serious bad feeling between them. He did say he wants the GGG fight, think he should chase Saunders it's very winnable.
Certainly is, I think he'd beat Saunders. Lemieux is quite easy to hit but he's got a fan friendly style plenty fights out there for him.

With power like he's got I think Saunders will stay away from him unless he's his mandatory which might happen, he was #4 with the WBO before last night.

Jesús that was a frightening knock out, and amazing because he seemed to have already landed his full power shots.

Stevens again showing a great chin, as did the Canadian.....then that left hook landed, with seemingly no leverage, and produces what will no doubt be one of the scariest knock outs of the year.
And yes an eye opener when he doesn't even bother checking the guy as he's been put on a stretcher, and is instead climbing the ropes and waving to the crowd ... he's definitely got the killer instinct.

And shows just how good GGG is, routinely dealing with those two murderous punchers. I hope Curtis recovers ok. :salut:

I hate it when people expect fighters who clearly dislike each other beforehand to be all pally pally after the fight. I like it when fighters show spite after the fight because it shows me that they were being real beforehand. You see two fighters giving it large at each other before the fight and then best mates in the right afterwards and for me that leaves a sour taste in the mouth.
I know what you are saying about fighters talking trash and then being great chums; it can leave one feeling slightly conned. My point here, though, was that Stevens was obviously in a bad way, and Lemieux didn't seem bothered at all.

Christ on a bike that was a sickening knockout, great fight while it lasted, both men throwing bombs right from the start, I thought Lemieux was excellent, very busy great jab and real hurtful punches to head and body and I doubt we'll see a better KO all year

Lemieux has always been able to get his power shots off very explosively and quickly, what's impressed me in his more recent two or three knockouts is firstly how he's
set them up, in this case hiding behind that straight right lead and rolling slightly to come back with the hook, and secondly how tight his left hook is now, he used to wing it a bit but that one last night was tight and compact as fvck lovely shot.

Agree completely. I've been so impressed by the manner in which he's dealt with his defeats - in many respects that's the true measure of a fighter, and he's clearly taken on board the lessons on each occasion. He's a far better boxer than he used to be as a result of that mentality, but he's retained his frightening power. I'd favour him to KO Saunders and Eubank Jr pretty comfortably - just don't think either will be remotely prepared to deal with that level of ferocity.

I think Lemieux has established himself as a top dog in the division after Golovkin. Along with perhaps Jacobs and Canelo. Everyone else including Saunders, Eubank, Derevyanchenko, Khurtsidze, Murata are further down the pecking order and still need to prove themselves.

BTW Derev has an interesting fight tomorrow against an unbeaten Jamaican.

yeah, CEJ thinking he is a big power-puncher who can square up and set his feet to bang- I pretty much guarantee, he ends up eating a left hook in between throwing his telegraphed uppercut-into-left-hook combination. would be ugly.

I am with you...what is the next step 'If he dies, he dies'? At least wait until you realise you don't have a fatality on your hands...said the same after Pac v Hatton

I thought he was impressive. Definitely better than I thought. He has big time power and more importantly, there will be an intimidation factor with his opponents now due to that KO. Stevens was fighting well I thought. He was compact and doing what he always does. He did some good catch and shoot as malinaggi calls it but his shots had little effect. He looked like he knew he was in trouble when he sat down in the corner after the first round.

And you have to take lemieux dealing with the kind of slick njikam into account as well.

Makes him a tough opponent for the likes of saunders, lee and Eubank. Jacobs will be a different fighter after his beat down by GGG this weekend so I guess taking everything into account Lemieux proved he is number 2 at 160.

Well I've got Jacobs at number 2 at the moment, I think you have to have him number 2.

I reckon a rematch with GGG would be interesting too, think he's looked better since they initially fought.

I thought it was bad taste to concentrate the camera on Curtis Stevens mum when he's still flat out.

Lemieux is division #2 or #3 depending how Jacobs performs Saturday.

Saunders potential opponents seem to be getting more and more dangerous. Can't see any more soft touches unless they somehow get the Langford fight through (unlikely)
