Hearn: Bellew Will 100% Fight Again, Haye Rematch Possible

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

According to Eddie Hearn, who promotes WBC cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew (29-2-1, 19 KOs), the Liverpool fighter is not going to retire and is fully expected to fight again this year.

There is the option of moving back to cruiserweight to defend his title. Heavyweight champions like Deontay Wilder and Joseph Parker are interested in fighting Bellew. And of course Haye is pushing for a rematch and that contest would once again do great numbers due to the controversy of the first fight.

If Hugh Fury is able to knock off Parker on May 6, he would also be interested in getting Bellew in the ring. "We're going to fight this year, 100 percent," said Hearn.

"Like Tony [Bellew] said, the decision will be made by him and his family and it's my job to present the opportunities to him. I believe the Haye rematch will be one of those opportunities. "Part of Tony Bellew wanted to beat him fully fit. There are some unanswered questions. It was an epic event, it was a thrilling fight but the Haye rematch certainly remains one of the biggest fights out there for both guys.

"For Haye the only fight out there is the Tony Bellew rematch. For Tony there's the Haye rematch, there's Joseph Parker, there's Deontay Wilder, there's Tyson Fury, there's plenty of options."

I'll be surprised if Bellew turns down a big payday to challenge Deontay Wilder for the title.

I can’t think of a better option for Bellew than to fight David Haye again for a massive payday and have a half-decent chance of emerging victorious over the similar-sized rusty injury-prone veteran.

I really hope Bellew bites the bullet and fights the Breidis/Huck winner, I would love it.

34 year old professional boxer who has just come off the biggest win of his career will fight again shock!

What's Hearn going to tell us next; that it goes dark about 6 O'Clock in the evening?!

Just tell us when he's signed to fight someone, then we can all pass judgement, make our predictions & decide whether to pay for it or not.

I just can't see the point in telling us that someone is/might do something at some unknown point in the future.

Bellew is not retiring now when there is money to be made from a heavyweight or cruiserweight title fight. Maybe he retires after that, but he will have at least one more fight.

The biggest payday for him is the Haye rematch.

Haye has already said that he would fight with the terms being reversed from the 1st fight, which would get Bellew a £4.2 million purse.
