Tesco Joe: Liam Smith was unlucky against Canelo

Post by TheLeprechaun »

How exactly was he unlucky? If you mean by taking a good hiding and comprehensively losing every single round and getting stopped, then I agree.

And he is normally such a humble bloke

inevitably the joke will be lost on someone and we will, regretfully, have to once again go to the lengths of explaining the genesis of all Joe G-related Tesco/Dog/that time he pretended to have a heart attack to avoid getting a kicking anecdotes.

They are still funny though.

Don't forget the one about when he worked as a baggage handler at Manchester airport and he made out he was a pilot and/or an air traffic controller !

We should try to come up with best story that combines all other stories

A bit like the time that Joe turned up at the RSPCA in his pilots uniform to check out the dogs and when confronted by the girl who does the mucking out he pretended to have a heart attack so she didn't kick his head in

You know, that kind of thing.

That needs a bit of fine tuning but you're definitely on to something there. Maybe even a sit com? We'd need to change the names for legal purposes. Let's say Goe Jallacher. A ballet coach and part time chopper pilot with an unhealthy interest in sheep?

Gallagher is delusional if he really believes that. Beefy is a good fighter bit he didn't prepare himself very well before signing the Alvarez.

Had he fought better opposition pre-Alvarez, he would have been in a much better position to put the fight up to Canelo.

Still wouldn't have won, it was a fight of different levels. But maybe on another day he would have prevented the knockout.

to be fair he had Canelo right where he wanted him, he was all set to come on strong in the last four rounds and claim a robbery on the cards, before that lucky KO punch

True I think Vanes Martirosyan would beat Smith handily in a good fight same with Willie Nelson who Andrade beat the living s**t out of last year. Fringe guys like that are what he should have been in with.

Ishe Smith was one I threw in not that great but very durable and experiences at a good level.

Instead he defends against Jimmy Kelly who hadn't even fought for an English /area title yet.

Then that Serbian who was absolutely dire, Kelly and other area/English level fighters probably would have smashed him to bits.

I completely disagree. Canelo had him down in the last few rounds of the fight.

It's statements like this which are among the reasons people think Gallagher is a b***end.

After the Ls he took last year he seemed to go a little quiet on the stupid statements. Apart from the classic " Liam had him where he wanted him"

He took the Crolla loss to Linares with class actually.

Liam Smith was British level paper world champion against a legit world level fighter ( who I can not stand )

There's clear levels in this sport and that said I feel both Liam' Smith and Williams are the same level right now which makes this a very good fight.

The card hasn't fallen apart at the moment so will probably get my tickets in a week or so.
