I found this fight difficult to score but GGG edged it on rounds. When you look at it overall though..GGG landed more, he also landed more power shots, he scored the knockdown. With this in mind i can't believe people on here (mainly current scene) are screaming robbery.

It was a close fight = people screaming robbery

That's how it works, even if it is the right result :witzend: :brick:

Agree . I couldn't believe they were saying Jacobs clearly and without question won the first 3 rounds . As if he'd bossed GGG. Throughout the whole fight they were incredibly bias towards Jacobs.
They were awful.

John Rawling's commentary was especially biased in favor of Jacobs. He always sounds like he truly hates mainland European and Asian boxers.

allegedly should replace them with better commentators.

Someone just said to me on facebook that the commentary would have swayed me towards Jacobs
Presumably he'd been watching B0x Nat10n.

I was watching streams on facebook that kept getting taken down.
Think I watched every round on a different stream

I went between a pro-Jacobs BN coverage, a pro-GGG HBO coverage and a spanish language feed that I think was from a Mexican families livingroom

I called it as I saw it and had Jabobs narrowly ahead but couldn't complain at a card a couple points either way.
It was that sort of fight
I'm in the minority that felt GGG clearly won that fight and I watched in on YouTube in decent quality with Russian commentary. Maybe that is a factor but I'll give it a few weeks and rewatch. I just don't think Jacobs did anything significant in the first half of the fight,
I agree. I watched on allegedly and the commentary was poor, normally like Rawling and Barry Jones but they were well off last night.

His jab did the job, good performances by both men tho. Would like to see it again.

Compu-Box had Golovkin landing 231 of 615 punches for a connect percentage of 38, and Jacobs landing 175 of 541 punches for a connect percentage of 32.

They also had GGG landing more jabs in every round, which matches what I saw. Jabs don't get oohs and ahhs though...

Very strange performance from GGG. As mentioned, it seemed like he thought it was a foregone conclusion and that he needed to get the 12 rounds in. I don't believe it myself but did he perform as he did to entice others in to a fight maybe?

I thought Jacobs deserved the decision, just. I thought he boxed very well and GGG's jab wasn't in use enough to get the win. Sure, he landed with it when he bothered but he didn't throw it enough.

Warrants a rematch either way.

the best of it is, if it had gone the other way you'd get another bunch of looneys that scored it the other way screaming "it's a fix"

It gets to the point you want every fight to end up 120-105 or with someone unconscious just so you don't have to read this crap

i had jacobs by one point, but i gave ggg only 1 of the first 3 rounds which were all close. therefore I can see how/why it swung like it did.

Golovkin outlanded him on power shots, out jabbed him and put him on the floor, can't see a way that Jacobs won. It was close and competitive but the decision was right for me.
This exactly for me too . Couldn't give Jacobs more than 4 rounds . Will go against everybody else and say it wasn't that close .

Golovkin by 1 or 2.

Jacobs' size plus strategy made it very hard for Golovkin.

Both men did well.

Time to stop all of this weigh-in nonsense. If Jacobs had done the weigh-in how drained might he have been?

I don't think Jones & Rawlings were there were they ? Sounded very flat, like they were in a room next door to the Bunce main studio I reckon....

Plus I thought Jacobs won, very impressed with his boxing ( and great corner man ) over all looked to me like he bossed the fight and GGG looked a beaten man at the end to be honest, never seen him take so many full blooded hard shots, he looked off the pace & had a bad night.

Probably watched the same, good old Ruski commentary!! It was competitive and relatively close but I thought GGG won by at least 2 maybe 3 rounds.

I agree,Golovkin isnt going to give him a rematch.Jacks gone, hes lost his belt.i know the division is very very weak at the moment but Jacobs could go up and be one of the top names at SMW

Well thats ur opinion but plenty of times GGG came in and in a trade jacobs outlanded GGG and out jabbed GGG throughout the fight,GGG was baffled by jacobs switching stances which GGG couldnt get enough on the right hand to have an effect

It was close but Golovkin did enough. His jab was snapping Jacobs head back regularly, a lot of Jacobs work was missing the target. Punch stats back it up too although I agree in part with those who say the stats aren't everything.

I dont agree with stats cause they are for the whole 12 rounds now if they had a round by round stats id agree with them but not whole fight stats cause they dont work imo

You had GGG needing a knockout by the tenth. I was following your RBR and the guardians cause i couldn't be bothered to come downstairs.

I did, but I think I may have been a bit generous to Jacobs with the first few rnds, he really got going later on though. It was a close fight I guess G is the champ and you have to rip the belts away. He looked vulnerable though, which is something I've never seen before, I'd like to see a rematch, I think both would commit more and take more risks next time around.
