Kellerman isn't bad if you hit mute.

Max Kellerman has always lacked tact and social common sense.

He can be very unprofessional by times.

Marvellous fight. I scored it 117-114 in favour of Chocolito but some rounds were so close I couldn't split them, especially in the second half of the fight. I'd never call it robbery but I'm a little surprised at the decision. Tough fight to score though.

I think what we saw on Saturday confirmed what I have said all along, that Inoue would destroy Gonzalez. Sor Rungvisai stunned and hurt Gonzalez several times. Inoue who I believe is a sharper and harder hitter than Sor Rungvisai would beat up Gonzalez bad, of that I have no doubt.

Max Kellerman is a better rapper than presenter, and that's saying something. He should go back to rapping, although he'll have to continue as a solo artist after fellow wigger Sam got iced by his boy friend James Butler.

I did not get to see the fight, so I am only commenting on the video posted above..

What is the problem? There is a significant language barrier so I wouldn't expect to see a lot of banter. Frankly, I thought the interview was professional. I recall a couple of years ago that Max Kellerman was prone to a more conversational approach in his interviews and I recall one time
Floyd became irritated with him and blurted out "you talk too much". I mean, live on TV with a ton of people watching, nobody can tell me that that didn't embarrass the hell out of him. I honestly believe that Kellerman changed his style after that interview and seemed to focus on just getting in there and asking the questions more concisely and then letting the fighter answer, which is what he seemed to be doing here.

Everybody is entitled to their opinion, but I don't really have any problem with his work. HBO shills for their fighters, that's just a fact, but I thought the interview was fine. Maybe I just set the bar low for announcers.

I've found this to be true as well. I enjoy him the most when I also look away when he's on screen. Makes the whole presentation better.

Larry Merchant was funny. Like stated above, he seemed drunk much of time. He always favored the more raw, and exciting fighters. With Max, he makes it no secret that he favors the more technically savvy boxers. I feel Max is a bit more schooled in understanding all the little nuances of the sport than Larry was. And I think his commentary and analysis is better. However, Larry has a special place in my heart as he and Jim were the dynamic duo of commentating when I first started following the sport. I believe Max was around when I first started as well, but on ESPN. But, for me, HBO boxing seemed a bit magical back in the 90's.

diddy wrote:He didnt win 7 rounds. And the fact you think he did just confirms that he didnt. Just because he's the underdog doesnt mean you give him every single close round. People have a habit of doing that because the favorite is supposed to dominate rounds and if he doesnt, it means he lost it.

Anyone posting compubox is an idiot. That was a razor close fight that could've gone either way. Absolutely no robbery.

yes! Merchant was great, honest and told it like he saw it. it sucks without him.
He was at least half-drunk at least half of the time, and teetering into senility for a reasonable portion of his later career too.
Agreed, he wasn't a complete idiot ass clown like atlas but Larry's commentary is vastly romanticized. My only fond memory of merchant is when dlh had the mariachi band. "This sucks".
Larry Merchant was an idiot ... Roy Jones is a moron ... Kellerman is good enough ...

... but Jim Lampley is without question the best, most polished and classiest commentator in all of sport ...

... (and HBO should thank its lucky stars) ...
