This Friday. Full card on Spike from 8pm :bag:

Looking forward to seeing Taylor again and there's a couple of decent fights on the undercard. Love a Friday fight night :yay:

Whilst I love a Friday Fight Night I'm a bit underwhelmed by the card. It's a shame as I thought the last Cyclone card was decent.

It's not as good as the last one but I don't know much about this South African dude. Im just looking forward to seeing Taylor again. Undercard isn't great but it's decent. Few tests for some Scottish lads so maybe I'm just being biased as its homegrown lads lol.

I love a Friday fight night but not when the show starts sharp and people don't finish work till 5, if full card is on from 8 that would really be good for our bus and people coming as a lot can't make it due to time ha

Sorry, silly question....
I'll watch him vs Taylor, but if I missed that night of boxing, so what?

The card doesn't look at all interesting at the moment.

Why should boxing fans feel grateful for any old rubbish thrown our way?

Boxing is boring right now and this awful fight is a part of the problem.
It's boxing on terrestrial tv. The more the better IMO. What else are you going to be doing on a Friday night? Sorting your tinned foods in to alphabetical order and ironing your Y-fronts?

I had a look at Joubert's record and although he's been fighting for a while there's nobody on his record I recognise, he's been beat a fair few times including a few by KO, he also has 5 draws, 2 of which are TDs due to cuts he suffered so he might be a bit dangerous with the head lunging in

I see Taylor making light work of him, getting him out of there early, I was glad to see Taylor go the distance in his last fight, gets the KO streak off his back and I'm sure he'll improve from it , concentrate more on his boxing instead of being intent on the KO, the KOs willcome if he uses his skills, Joubert should be an easy nights work without Taylor getting out of 2nd gear

I haven't seen Taylor, so can't really judge, but in my experience south Africans are tough, and (I'm going to get crucified for this) Scottish fighters are generally very overrated

Yeah sounds like it when you put it that way! To be clear I know very little about either, my fault!

PS I still maintain that Gary Cornish was winning handily until Joshua caught him!

List of very overrated Scottish fighters please? If they are generally very overrated you should have a big list.
You don't get more overrated than hyped up English prospects. There's literally been dozens of them.

Yeah because unlike Scotland, England has a lot of prospects!

Please tell me which Scots are 'underrated'?

Wales is half the size of Scotland yet has so many more champions

It was a decent watch. Bad cut for Taylor and he came through a test well.

Controversial statement: Taylor is decent but I don't believe he warrants the hype that surrounds him.

Its clear he's better than 'decent'. He's a top prospect. Has class written all over him.

He's easily passing the eye test for me so far, and I'm excited to see how he manages against tougher opposition.

I'm not sure of most people's expectations for hm, so I can't say whether he's excessively hyped, but he strikes me as someone with at least EBU potential.

Oh yeah I'd expect him to win an EBU title. When I say I don't think he deserves some of the hype surrounding him; i'm talking in the more extreme sense. I've seen some talking him up as if he's a future possible P4P star and I personally just don't see it. So in summary I think he's decent but I'm not seeing this "elite" potential that some do.

England always have a lot of prospects because they have a bigger talent pool that tend to get more attention from the British press due to them being from the more favourable nationality. The problem is a lot of them get hyped up as being better than they actually are which equates to being overrated.

And I never said that any Scots boxers were underrated so what you banging on about? I will definitely say they do tend to get less hyped up than their English counterparts.

Yes, Wales has historically produced more champions than Scotland and actually have 4 of the greatest UK boxers Britian has produced in Jimmy Wilde, Jim Driscoll, Freddie Welsh and Joe Calzaghe. Howard Winston was superb as well. Wales deserves a lot of respect.

Scotland has produced two of the greatest boxers the UK has ever seen in Benny Lynch and Ken Buchanan. They also have the excellent flyweights Jackie Paterson, Walter McGowan and Johnny Hill. Jim Watt, Scott Harrison and Ricky Burns were/are arguably under appreciated to a degree. Most of Scotlands best were tough as nails and possessed Iron Jaws. There's also Scotland and Britian's greatest ever amateur boxer Dick Mctaggart with his incredible amateur record. And there will be more names I haven't mentioned. I'm struggling to think of any truly overrared Scottish boxer here. Maybe Alex Arthur was overrated but he was also a very good fighter that served us up an absolute classic.

You made the controversial statement that Scottish boxers are generally very overrated and have yet to back this up with a list of names and reasons why. Yes, I'm sure you can name a few overrated Scottish Boxers that I might agree with but to claim Scots boxers are generally very overrated is basically saying most of them are which is imo pure ignorance and lacking in any evidence.

Also Josh Taylor looks excellent and is not overrated. You should watch his fight from last night. He has an exciting style which is great for British boxing.

Just let the lad keep doing what hes doing. He can obviously sell tickets and has a fan friendly style so he's got a bright future no matter where it takes him. Beautiful finish just when I thought it was going to get dragged out all 12. Good work form Jouberts corner as well...just no point letting him go on.

It should be a domestic opponent next.

We've got loads at all sorts of different levels, so he doesn't need to be fighting another foreigner for awhile.

Nurse, Limond, Foot, Gethin, Daws, Hughes, Jenkins etc. Fight any of them.

This was the second time I've seen Taylor fighting in the 'flesh'.

1. He makes very few mistakes.

2. He doesn't waste ANY punches.

3 He gets a specific 'gameplan' which he sticks to rigourously.

I think he has great potential. Punches hard without being totally destructive, has a solid chin, is always within striking distance forcing his opponents to be constantly under pressure and carries a bit of controlled spite.
My prediction is that he will fight for a version of a world title within 2 years.

Limond is fighting Ryan Brawley next. Catch weight contest.
