You have to declare convictions, same as trying to gain entry to the US. It's in his passport too so if he turned up they'd turn him away if he didn't have a visa.
Criminal convictions aren't in your passport.
And declare feck all, there's no magic database they use in airports to check who has/hasn't got a conviction.
Are you sure they dont have those things in the database? Apparently He was concerned enough to ask for visa in advance.

I see. Thanks.

Stupid practice if you ask me. Especially for the Commonwealth realm. Now we do not get a good fight because of bureaucracy.
Perks of having a convicted criminal as your trainer.

Now we don't get a good fight because peter was a drug dealer. Not bureaucracy.

I think we should refuse convicted criminals entry to our country aswell.
He was not just convicted he also served his sentence. He owes nothing to society. That is the whole point of the justice system.

I dont think the fight will go on, then, as a consequence.

I interviewed Peter after the Cunningham fight, and though he was glad Tyson won he said "Never again will my nephew or son ever fight without me there," and I believed him then and still do believe he'll stand by that. I'd be greatly shocked if he turns about face and lets Hughie go there on his own without him there instructing him.

Why isn't he going then? Why hasn't he got freedom to enter countries with similar policies?

Its there country , there laws , same in the states , and i'm not sure but think it applys too Australia .. So it was always going to happen , and why not are they expected to change there policies to cater to the whims of a convicted drug dealer and gangster .

Only thing i find bewildering is if he got 10 years in 2005 , what the eff was he doing out to get another two years in 2008 .. There Laws , there policies , there country , if anything Britain shouild be just has vigilant in who they let in .
He got the 10 stretch in ’95 according to the article in this thread. Not in 2005.

How's Hughie going to fufil his potential as world champion, then? They've already knocked back Joshua (and Wilder, although that was understandable considering the circumstances). Hughie will be waiting a long time to fight AJ should he beat Wlad, so he'll have to travel to fight as he's not really a draw in his home country. Hughie's my favourite of the Fury's so I don't want to see him fail, but I personally think he should get out there and fight Parker. Win or lose, this is a big important fight. Hughie needs this.

I think, considering how close-together the family is, it is honor over everything else. They aint gonna let Hughie represent himself, by himself, in a foreign land where the champion has all the advantages. That wouldn't be fair. After all, they were all there for Tyson in Germany. So, I think that it will more than likely not go through UNLESS they can manage to allow Peter a "one time only" entry into the country.

Friend of mine was refused entry to the US when going to a wedding in Vegas. Hauled in by immigration and told that due to his conviction for dealing LSD 20 years prior he was refused entry, another had the same in Australia for a similar class A offence and he had a visa.

I'm sure he was one of the more kind hearted multimillionaire drug barrons. Probably got to the top by being really nice to people, making everybody laugh and remembering people's birthdays and that. I mean, the ones round my way have people shot and tortured, set them on fire and stuff, but this is up North isn't it? It's like a Hovis advert or something, right?

New Zealand has no duty to allow entry to a convicted drug dealer, either.

Peter served his time.. Let him in.

Who cares what he done? I don't. He's reformed. Some ex cons go on to be born again and do speeches at churches and to teenagers and other things. They don't get turned away cos of their past.

Only people who shouldn't be forgiven are paedos, rapists and child killers .

No doubt some people get stopped/refused but it isn't because of anything contained on your passport or because customs/immigration the other end have access to a master database.

A friend of mine got refused entry into Australia late last year for a caged Muay Thai fight. He declared nothing and was put on the plane home.

How do you think US immigration knew? He'd never been to the US before.

He stood in line handed his passport in and was then removed from the line and taken to holding area where he was informed, after about 2 hours, that he was refused entry due to his record and would be returned to his port of origin.

There's blatantly information sharing, whether countries admit it or not.

The United States and the UK share all kinds of information. Wikileaks proved that.

Either way, it's Peter Fury. It's well known he is a convicted criminal. Does anyone really expect him to just try and keep schtum and slip quietly in to NZ? It would literally take one voice to highlight it!

Simple really; if you don't want your future plans to be affected try not to become a career criminal.

NZ have as much of an obligation to let some scrote like Fury into their country as we do to let the kiwi equivalent in over here. He's done his time but that means he's out on conditions. Hardly a child when he did it either.
