Crawford for me. I'd move up kovalev past Gonzalez and ggg after last week.

crawford is a possible option, he was very busy, has never lost, is in his prime and with dulorme, gamboa and postol continuily fought good quality opponents, makes sense.

There is no clear king I spose. It's technically either GGG or Ward. I'd have to lean towards GGG because of activity. But, Ward's "win" over Kovalev gives him a legitimate claim as well. But, his inactivity since the Super 6 has really sucked.

There's definitely no clear #1. It was Floyd, then he retired and it was Manny, then it was Floyd again after Manny's lucky decision in the third JMM fight. You could argue that Floyd held the title until he retired, although it was debatable, especially after the first Maidana fight. Since then there has been no clear #1.

What's technicality got to do with anything?

Golovkin and Ward are only two of about 6 or 7 fighters with a legitimate claim.

I thought they both deserved to lose their last fights, so neither would be my No. 1 right now.

Vacant for me too, although if I hard my arm twisted & had to be forced off my comfortable fence, I'd probably just plump for Crawford.

Without a doubt Ward ... Remember he previously mopped up a talent loaded super middleweight division & last fight he jumped off the canvas to control the most feared puncher in the sport ... Even if you think he lost, he basically de-fanged kovalev & then there is the solid reume.

I would have to say Gennady Golovkin on this. As he is the only fighter on the list who has unified the division and a strong body of work.

If you're counting the super 6 for wards current status you may as well have Manny #1.

None right now.

Ward/Kovalev rematch winner
Golovkin/Alvarez winner
some combo of Crawford/Garcia/Lomachenko winner

Would all have a claim.....but no one at the moment

The idea that it could be vacant to me is laughable - it isn't a title, if you claim #1 is vacant whoever you put in #2 is #1. Floyd helped fetishise the notion of P4P No.1 being this huge achievement, handed to THE ONE unequivocally great fighter of his generation, but really whoever you happen to think is the best, is the best. We're just in an in-between period where there isn't any consensus between fans, writers etc over who, of the four or five fighters with plausible claims, is #1. Time will help clear things up eventually.

He didnt have a hard time with Barrera at all. It was an 8-4 type affair at worst.

losing 4 rds is not equal for having a walk in the park....more of a hard time...his face certainly looked more marked than the face of barrera and i had barrera winning...cause those pity paty punches from ward dont count....pu/()y punches.
