Request to Correct Inaccurate Information Re: "Oleh Dovhun"

This is JJ Richardson - I'm an attorney, manager and promoter from Pittsburgh, PA. I co-manage a debut boxer named Oleg Dovhun. Oleg is from Lviv, Ukraine and now lives, trains and fights out of our gym in Pittsburgh, PA. Oleg is scheduled to make his professional debut on March 31, 2017 in Pittsburgh.

Oleg is a former member of the Ukrainian National Team and a five-time Ukranian national amateur champion. He recently represented his country as a member of the Ukraine Otamans in the World Series of Boxing. Oleg has never fought professionally before. As recently as last year, he was still representing his country as an amateur in the WSB.

Oleg was just recently granted his professional boxing license by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission and has apparently also been issued his federal ID number. His name does appear in Fight Fax records as a licensed professional boxer in Pennsylvania. However, that only happened in the last week.

Recently, it came to our attention that there was already an entry on BoxRec for a "Oleh Dovhun" with the same birth date, city of birth, and hometown as our client, "Oleg Dovhun" who is with us in Pittsburgh. ("Oleh" is an alternative Ukrainian spelling of the name "Oleg.")

According to this erroneous BoxRec entry, this "Oleh Dovhun" purportedly fought a professional bout against a Ukranian named Oleksandr Hryshchuk on July 27, 2012 at the Sportpalace Dinamo in Donetsk, Ukraine. This fight never happened. Oleg has never fought Hryshchuk at any time. Oleg has also never participated in a professional boxing match against any opponent. Oleg would have only been 18 years old at this time.

I had some problems attaching images to this post. However, as support for our position, I can provide his amateur passbook that cover the portion of 2012 in which this fight purportedly happened. His passbook indicates that he fought an amateur bout in May 2012 in Poland and an amateur bout in October 2012 in Donetsk, Ukraine. He did not fight in July 2012. Oleg's passbook continues for four more years worth of amateur bouts. If he had taken a professional fight, he would not have been permitted to continue as an amateur. There are pictures online of Oleg competing as an amateur with the Ukrain Otamans in the World Series of Boxing as recently as November 2016.

We can only speculate how this inaccuracy got reported to BoxRec but we are hopeful it will be corrected soon. We did report this inaccuracy to our matchmaker. Mysteriously, within the last day or two, two new entries for an "Oleg Dovhun" and an "Oleg Dovehun" have appeared on BoxRec indicating that this boxer is a debut boxer active between 1880-2017. Obviously, neither of these entries is correct either.

As Oleg's manager, it is very important to Oleg and our team that these discrepancies be corrected. There should only be one "Oleg Dovhun." He is from Lviv, Ukraine, now fighting out of Pittsburgh, PA. His birthdate is March 22, 1994. He is active as a professional from 2017 only. He is scheduled to debut in Munhall, PA on March 31, 2017.

there is no mistake, pro boxers can return to the amateur ranks as long as they’ve had only five or fewer pro fights.

Thanks for your reply, ABC Boxing. I have seen this clip before. Neither of these boxers is Oleg Dovhun. Oleg is a southpaw and both of those boxers are rightys. Also, he does not look like either of the boxers depicted in the video. We believe the video is not labeled correctly on YouTube.
