There was nothing exceptionable about Golovkin's jab against Jacobs.

He landed a few good power jabs, but most were just basic jabs.

I am not as impressed as some on here about 3G's jab in this fight. While he did out jab Jacobs, I do not think that 3G won that aspect of the fight by as much as some are claiming.

Jacobs also jabbed quite well at times during the fight. Jacobs absolutely did superior body work than 3G accomplished, and that was not close.

It was a close fight that I believe the judges got right.

GGG very clearly outjabbed Jacobs when he was in an orthodox stance. When Jacobs switched to southpaw, it negated GGG's jab and he landed some right hand jabs himself - some of which were counted as power punches by CompuBox, by the looks of it.

It's strange to me that someone can have Jamie McDonnell pitter-patting his way to a win over Solis, yet then dismiss the jab as a weak punch and go by power shots when it comes to GGG-Jacobs.

Solis landed with more effect than Jacobs did, causing McD's nose to seriously bleed throughout and putting him on the retreat for large portions of rounds, with McD looking quite wary in the process. For the most part, McD could only muster flicking jabs that were thrown from too far out (GGG's were much stiffer and more accurate), and he obviously didn't drop Solis or hurt him as badly as GGG hurt Jacobs in the 9th.

Solis landed the best shots in most of the rounds, and clearly did more damage then McDonnell.

Now we have had arguably the top 2 Eastern fighters in Kovalev and Golovkin go up against a brother from Oakland and Brooklyn and been held.

They both won, Kovalev a bit more widely than Golovkin, thankfully the judges were more honest in New York than Las Vegas.

But your right, both Ward and Jacobs did a lot of holding to survive being KOed.

The first rd i saw showed Gennady repeatedly landing his hard jab on Danny's mandibule while evading incoming shots and taking the center of the ring.
Together with the 4 and 9 rds, it was one of the most easiest to score rds proving domination by GGG.

If you still want to yapp about it, i challenge you to a blow by blow recap of that rd.

Imo, GGG won the fight 7 to 5 rounds. It was a good fairy close fight, but I wouldn't say it could have went the other way. GGG won.

Someone should start a service that actually counts the punches accurately, verifying the count from multiple angles and with the assistance of slow motion post fight. Compubox is essentially more realtime human subjectivity.

Interesting take - for me the first three were all swing round that could be score to either fighter. GGG obviously gets a 10-8 for the 4th and wins the 5th, Jacobs took the 6th and 7th. From there, I thought GGG edged the 8th, won the 9th, then Jacobs edged the 10th and 11th and GGG won the 12th. I think GGG was the rightful winner, but it could have reasonably been scored either way.

I did give them to Jacobs, 7 and 8 but.....really what I saw, Golovkin came in strong for the first minute or so, there there was a bit of back and forth and then Jacobs finished the rounds stronger in the last 30. I just didn't want to discount what Golovkin was doing earlier on in the rounds. The way I saw 12 was very messy, it was back and forth, I appreciate the compubox numbers have golovkin outlanding but I didn't see enough clean punches by either to call it for either.

Just my opinion, and I'm aware of the compubox numbers but... in the first 5 rounds I really thought Golovkin clearly won (not the domination we are used to seeing mind you). I thought anything Jacobs was throwing was wild, ineffective, was hitting gloves, were glancing blows. Golovkin pierced him with that Jab numerous times, got some clean power punches too. Anyway, I'm not above being wrong......I said it in a reply before but the 12, even though compubox numbers had it for golovkin was a very difficult messy one to score so i made it even which is unrealistic for today's judging.
