Surprisingly GGG's best boxing performance was against Jacobs

Post by apollo creed »

I rewatched the fight a few times and man, GGG can really box! He kept his composure, landed lots of power jabs and controlled th pace of the fight. Jacobs at end of the fight was exhausted and tired of it.

I'm impressed with GGG's composure and mental. :TU:

People were yelling about holes in his defense, but when he fought defensively responsible way, they are unhappy again.

I was impressed as well. Jacobs had advantages in age and weight and Golovkin still won legitimately. I don't know why so many people think Jacobs deserved to win.

Yup, people were used to see GGG ktfo his opponents, so they got with that mindset. GGG boxed brilliantly IMO. Jacobs was sick and tired at the end of the fight.

If that was his best then the guy really stinks.

Yup, they're trying to bash and downplay everything GGG does in the ring. Using this borken logic then Floyd and Ward lost almost all of their fights because they didn't T/K.O their opponents.

If GGG was to get dropped in this fight and then KTFO Jacobs, same people would've said GGG has a glass jaw and Canelo would whoop his ass.

It was great seeing him box, but he got hit quite a lot for it at the same time, and if his chin wasn't granite, Jacobs would have nicked it just as easily.

Against other elite fighters like him, he seems to run out of ideas if he can't land his liver punches.

Obviously he doesn't 'stink'.... How did you have the fight?

I've only watched it once but I had Jacobs winning by two and I'm a big GGG fan. I gave Jacobs the first three rounds though and neither of em done much so I'll have to rewatch it. GGG took a lot of roads on the jab alone. He has a fantastic jab but his movement wasn't great and he struggles to pin Jacobs down all night. Best thing about GGG is his jab and footwork. Always seems to be a few moves ahead. I put it down to an off night and Jacobs boxing out his skin. Hopefully we'll see the rematch.

thats exactly what i said, finaly there are some experts on boxrec.

so many people in here said ggg was past prime etc, just because he didnt made a 4 round ko of jacobs....

and i said, jacobs was the second best middleweight in the world, what did you expect, he aint no geale or any other c class opponent who ggg put away easily.

granit chin, good composure, elite jab and good at cutting of the ring, that is what i remember of ggg in his last fight and yes, he did well, so did jacobs. that why it was so even, because both were very good in that fight

Wasn't even close to his best. He underperformed. He was punch perfect against Lemeuix.

Could be that Jacobs is just that much better than Lemieux

Jacobs has a lot more tools than Lemieux does. Can you imagine Lemieux rapidly moving around like that?

Incidentally, I've seen numerous people say they like Canelo's chances based on GGG's showing against Jacobs, but it's comical to think of a 5'7" plodder successfully employing the tactics that Jacobs did.

Yeah without a doubt he is a far better technical boxer mate. I wouldn't write Lemeuix off though if they met. He's tough and can whack although I'd favour Jacobs. Jacobs looks the kinda fighter that will perform better the better the opponent. He was excellent against GGG and fought out the game plan to the letter.
