I think you're a bit harsh on Bruno, the man had a huge heart, well up until his last fight with Tyson, when he punked out like scared cat!!!!! :Ptigerpomfret wrote:1)Audly Harrison(conman)

He's a track star posing as a boxer....extremely evident by the way he ran from Williams.KO Artist wrote:Your numbers 2, 3, 4 & 5 are fighters. Never disrespect a fightertigerpomfret wrote:1)Audly Harrison(conman)

No1 - Its debatable what he is.
I have to strongly disagree with the glass jaw comment. Brunos jaw of course will never be mistaked for Oliver McCalls, but if Bruno did have a glass jaw why wasn't he knocked out COLDa number of times?revporl wrote:Bruno was a pretty good boxer with a very good punch (and a glass jaw), who put up good fights against Witherspoon and Lewis (and Tyson in the first fight), I'd rate him as one of the better british heavies.
You don't have a clue what you're on about mate, go away and learn something about boxing before coming up with insulting tripe like this!... arse... 8)tigerpomfret wrote:1)Audly Harrison(conman)

Bugner and Farr were better than Bruno. Arguably Cooper as well.dr_devious wrote:Stupid comment on Bruno, I agree with KOJoe that his problems were more to do with stamina and survival instinct than a glass jaw. Bruno was Britains second best ever heavyweight behind Lewis.
I think peope are over-critical of Harrison too. Hes far from Britains worst heavyweight, just a wasted talent. He seemed a bit gun-shy to me against Danny Williams, but I would be too fighting Williams, as would all the other armchair warriors putting posts up about fighters hearts!
Smith was a good fighter who gave the likes of Tyson and Holmes decent fights while also beating Mike Weaver and Tim Witherspoon... your knowledge of boxing is laughable tigerprattigerpomfret wrote:Bruno was nothing but a conman, fought bums and got away with it untill the title fights, then got knocked out by crap like laughable tripe like bonecrusher smith,i remember henry cooper saying what a crock of sh**british heavy boxing was in,with names like bruno, andfunso banyo about, the crap frank fought to get world title shots was unbelivable, fat porkers and even a male model how was sopposed to be danish champ, until a couple of days after the fight when he admited it was 1 big joked, but i feel sorry for franks ex misses,he certainly was no gentleman when you seen the reportsand i was told bruno was out on his feet but won on cuts late evening![]()

Bruno and Smith was not a title fight. Just thought I would point this out since you had both their names and title fight in the same sentence. Hmmm, upon further review your whole paragraph is one sentence.tigerpomfret wrote:Bruno was nothing but a conman, fought bums and got away with it untill the title fights, then got knocked out by crap like laughable tripe like bonecrusher smith,i remember henry cooper saying what a crock of sh**british heavy boxing was in,with names like bruno, andfunso banyo about, the crap frank fought to get world title shots was unbelivable, fat porkers and even a male model how was sopposed to be danish champ, until a couple of days after the fight when he admited it was 1 big joked, but i feel sorry for franks ex misses,he certainly was no gentleman when you seen the reportsand i was told bruno was out on his feet but won on cuts late evening![]()

I think Bugner would stop Frank in a 15 round fight in the late rounds. Bruno was an honest fighter though and always gave his best. The reaction to that punch from Jumbo Cummings was almost cartoon-like. I'd never seen anything like it.dr_devious wrote:I still rank Bruno as second best British heavyweight. A peak Bugner would have been in with a chance against Frank but I'd still back Frank to beat Bugner, not sure about Tommy Farr would think hed be too small, and Frank would crush Henry Cooper. At the end of the day Frank was a decent boxer with a huge punch, an average chin and poor stamina, which really let him down. He did at least win a bona fide WBC title, which is no mean feat.
ArsenalArsenal wrote:Ezzard what fight was it that Bruno was winning and in the last round right before the bell got clocked and stood there as if he was hypnotised. The corner literally had to carry him back. He won. It may have not been the last round but I think it was because I can't imagine Bruno recovering enough to win.
He didn't have any of those basic survival tactics. When he was hurt it was obvious and he couldn't hold or smother the other guy. He was worse than Hearns for that. I was amazed at how well he did against Lewis. I think Lewis was amazed too.Arsenal wrote:I agree about Buno's chin. It was his ability to survive that cost him. Instead of going down he would jsut drop his hands and get pummelled. Lots of people said he was to proud to go down. As soon as he got hit with a big shot it seemed his energy went but he must have had great strength because he was never floored as such. His stamina was bad probably due to the amount of weight training he did but that probably also contributed to his ability to stay upright after being clocked.
Its funny when most people get hurt they cover up, big Frank was the opposite. At least his defeats were to 2 top 15 HW of all time (Lewis, Tyson) and IMO two very good HW in Witherspoon and Smith.
